New city of Douglasville Public Safety and Municipal Court building.

Since: Nov 09

United States

#3 Nov 22, 2009
City voters approved a $23 million, 20 year general obligation bond to build a "public safety" building.

In 2007 they were seeking $4.5 million to build it in the SPLOST referendum.

Some how it escalated to $23 million. It includes $300 coffee pots and $800 executive chairs.

when pitching the bond to the voters, they said there would be retail at the front of the property along Fairburn Rd.
After it passed, they decided not to do that.

Also, when they realized that it would cost less than $23 million, instead of reducing the construction budget and selling fewer bonds (I.e. borrowing less money for the taxpayers to repay), they decided to build another building on the property to house the shooting range and meeting space.(police shooting range could have gone in the basement of the main building - currently designated as for future use)

There will be a empty floor in this building. They said it was for future "growth".

In 2007 they say this same building could be built for $4.5 million. SUCKERS!

There is NO empty floor being programmed into this building. After the initial programming sessions, the space filled up pretty quickly, which is what lead to the additional building being built on site.

As for the retail, the city is going to possibly make the front parcels available at some future date. No decision has been made on that yet.

The parcels would be sold off, not rented. The government is not getting into the retail business. At least not the city government.

Are you planning on dancing nude, "checing u-out?"
I still don't understand why people either take their clothes off for money or pay money to watch other people take their clothes off.

Guess I will always be mystified by the concept. If you want to go naked, at least don't charge people to watch. That is insane.

If you have extra money, buy lottery tickets or go to a movie. Paying someone to strip is ridiculous. Everyone has a body. You have to be pretty frustrated to be paying someone to show you their body. Of course, if you have a totally lousy personality that not even a mother could love, I guess you would need to pay someone to share an event with you.

If you are so horny that you can't live without strippers ... maybe you should take up collecting S&H Greeen Stamps to keep yourself out of trouble.

If there is, they will probably encase it in concrete.
