Just avoid any dental work of any sort from that group over by Kroger on Hospital drive. They set automatic appointments and if you don't call to cancel, they harrass you mercilessly for the money. Any dentist that makes you sign a release every single time you visit must be up to something skeezy.

You are so right, they are the biggest rip offs around. When I went there I wanted my teeth whiter so they made a impression of my mouth and told me it would be ready in a week. They had told me it would be a hundred dollars.Wow I'm thinking that's a deal so I go back like a dumbars and they said it was 500.00 dollars I said for what the impression 400.00 and 100.00 for a tube of whitener.I went nuts, thank God I signed nothing I refused to pay they called the cops on me.I gave them 100.00 and walked out the cops couldn't do anything to me.That was a shocker I'm always getting stopped for something, but that is another story. But before I left and raised hell they told me that I would have to keep buying the whitener til I got the results I wanted like that would happen.I have been going to another one and they are just as bad they are like lawyers and car salesmen money hungry.Coastal I have been going to and they have been trying to rip me off there you have to be carefl. The worst of all of them is Nanston group they did work root canals and some other crap and I refused to pay them 7,000 dollars they put a lien on my house and when I sold it they got there money. This was before I went to the one by kroger. You have to watch and tell them I just want cavaties fixed today etc. They even ripped me off for toothpaste I didnt get and a mouth wash that was at Coastal. Then they don't want to be bothered to fill out the insurance papers.Beware of Dentist. That's why people have to let there teeth get so screwed up cause they are so expensive.I am babbling I know sorry!
All true thanks tick.

Nanston is the worst. The dentist was nice, the billing department - a nightmare! I am a very patient person and I think my last words to them were - fix this. If you don't I am going to take a day off work drive over to your office and get it resolved in person. I am local and I will find you! I was totally postal.

I reported their business practices to every place I could think of! They made a practice of -"oh, don't pay this, it is a mistake, or the insurance company will pay this" - Then keep billing you late and finance charges - quite a racket!

And their billing department used to be a voice mail box - and they would return your call within 48 hours - And they never did! More than once, the voicemail was full and you couldn't even leave a message. There is nothing more aggravating than someone making you wait to vent!

And this happened to everyone that worked in my office (cause we all had the same insurance, we all chose this dentist)

The sad part is, the dentist was really super nice!

I believe the dentist that you stated was very nice left there for fear of them ruining their rep. The Company is out of Destin Fla. They are nothing but a divisive money mill. Beware They have more than 1 office in GA. Al policies of this place is that of the management co. not the Dentists. They are doing nothing more than renting chair space. For your own sanity Stay away from this place and seek out a dentist that owns their own practice. Hell they even hijack patients but thats a story for another time.

Yeah, I am not surprised if the dentist left. I told him that is why I wouldn't be back - because his billing dept was driving me insane -

And the good cop bad cop thing was true, too. The office staff was helpful - but said, we can't do anything, it has to be corrected from our main office...

I agree. Nanston is the WORST. I had a HORRIBLE experience with their pediatric care. I knew their treatment planned sounded phony ..in other words they were going to perform as many high priced procedures as they could on my son's teeth ...afterall they were not permanent teeth! I could not see putting my son through that type of trauma, so I sent my son's x-rays and Nanston's treatment plan to my mom who works for a dentist in another state. Her dentist reviewed it and was appalled. The procedures were completely unnecessary and way to agressive for a child as young as mine. STAY AWAY from NANSTON.

how do you feel about nanston's policy to not have parents in the room w/children while they work on them?

I agree with it. But it is not only nanston's policy but it is OSHA's policy. Children will usually dramtize everything to the 10th degree if their parents are present. let the people do their work without helicopter parents hovering over their children.

my daughter changed dentists when she brought it to their attention that dried blood was on one of the instruments they were to use on her child.[not nanston] Another dentist office in Douglasville[I'll not mention names] hurt her 4 year old so bad she had to have aftercare for her mouth for days.......to many fly by night places these days all geared to make money.....

if my child cannot behave then yeah put them to sleep. i have seen some pediatric dentist actually strap the child to the chair to work on them like they are in an insane assylum (kool smiles). I think putting them to sleep would be better for their mental health than strapping them to the chair. and no, parents cant always keep their children calm....trust me they can make it worse and usually do.

After reading the post of this thread. You would have to be an idiot to not insist on being in the room with your child. Looking out for your child's welfare is not a helicopter parent but rather a responsible one.

do you not trust your dentist? and just because you havent heard it doesnt mean it has never happened. if you trust your dentist and their staff then their wellfare is in good hands and the dentist and their staff would not have you in their way while they are trying to do their job. anyway everyone had gotten so far off the subject which was....anyone know of a good ORTHODONTIST?

Yeah, my daughter never went there - but any dentist or doctor that says I can't be in the room - NO WAY. Nope, not gonna happen.

The "your kid might behave better if you weren't present" reasoning is weak. Kids may play the drama card more if a parent is present - but no one can spot the drama card like mom, either. And this mom doesn't play it!

I like Dr. Mark Justice in Lithia Springs. It has been some time, but, he made me a night guard for TMJ issues some time ago. He was nice, seemed well informed (latest technology wise) and professional.

He recently did a consultation on my daughter regarding spacers - the tech was very friendly, my daughter really liked her.
