According to an article I read tonight online, the Westboro Baptist Church is coming here to protest, right here in Douglasville, to "exercise their 1st Amendment Rights." They will be here May 5-6th.
Here is the link:
http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/infamous-chur...
According to the AJC,
"The small Kansas group, known for picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers and its antipathy toward homosexuals, will protest at Grady, Druid Hills and Douglass high schools, the Jewish Georgian and a Cinco de Mayo rock festival in Alpharetta, among other locations."

I wonder why they would be protesting at Douglass high schools? Because there is too much ass in Douglass? First they need to learn how we spell our name here. I'm all for giving these aholes a free meal at the worst restaurant in Douglasville, whichever one that is.

I don't think they are coming here. There is a Douglass High School in atlanta. But still, I am sure Atlanta will be thrilled they graced us with their presence. <sarcasm>

Geez. hope they are at grady and douglass with the thugs they need some help. If these people are so holey (cannot say holy about them) why did one of them have a child out of wedlock? She does not like when you ask about her bastard child.

Oh, I didn't realize that there really is a Douglass High School. Oh well. It seems to me that the Westboro Baptist Church people are risking their lives and having faith that some lunatic other than themselves won't pull out an AK-47 and mow them all down.

Like, I'm thinking, just how long can they go on tempting fate and pissing people off before someone takes it upon himself or herself to even the score for good? This cannot end well. It is funny, but then again, it is tragic and someone is going to take them seriously ... I don't want to be around when that happens.

You see, the issue for me is I see little difference between these folks and just about any other religion out there. For all you people know, perhaps God does hate gays. Maybe they're right!

Then again, maybe not.

Well, that could be true. But I think what the argument is, is their mode of message delivery. They don't honestly give a rat's "arse" about their intention behind the protest. They're not really even protesting...their screaming like babies who aren't getting "their" way. They hide behind "God's word".

But how the hell do THEY know what God wants until they die? Which, hopefully, will be soon and painfully slow. They go by what they read in whichever biblical text they feel happy with and then derive what they will from it in order to fit their own anger at the planet. Cart before the horse if you ask me.

They could care less about God and changing the planet or bringing people to "God's word"...whatever. They simply don't like homosexuality, and use whatever outlet they can to engage in an attack to bolster their own faltering egos. They could care less about God.They just like attention. Seriously!

I think that hiding behind religion to be a hate group is pretty bad. I think the Lord will take care of this bunch. He's sending them into some pretty bad neighborhoods. Let's sit back and watch.

Also, that WB woman who's always on TV spouting her venom? She looks like she's two cell divisions away from being cro-magnon. Have you seen her? Someone's been sinnin' with Grandpa and got ...her!

She seriously makes me think of Riff-Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Honestly lady, take a shower at least. Ya look like hamper lint! Blecht!

Sort of like some folks hide behind the Republican party just because they don't like blacks.

Actually, I would think the the more liberal ends of the Democratic party are far more racist. Often the dem. party seeks to assign "weakness" to minorities in the form of social separation.

Historically, the democratic party has been the one to provide assistance for those who don't really need it in order to keep them "under thumb". Repubs have a mantra of...Do or Do without.

They understand that while social needs programs are necessary, the separate those who need from those who want and the good ones act accordingly with fiscal responsibility.

Dems see minorities as weak and incapable of doing for themselves. Therefore, they "provide" for them...but at what cost? IMo, the Dems have done this in order to simply try to stay in power for as long and in as much capacity as possible. They do so by selling votes inside social programs.

"Vote for me and you'll get free rent...food...housing...whatev er."

This sends a message to many minorities, "You're too ignorant to get this on my own. Too weak, too...inept...you name it. Not as good or as capable as whites."

Let's go with your vein of thought (republicans don't like blacks)and assume all social programs are aimed at minorities. Who wants more social programs and minority support? Historically, democrats do. Not republicans. Republicans want everyone to live their own life with their own means of support. They may offer a hand up, but not a handout.

And some would even say that Byrd, since he was a "Kleagel" in the KKK, and continued his support of them even after he withdrew membership, would be considered quite the blemish on the Dems. But apparently...not.

Let's just say for the sake of argument that your statement is true. What say ye about blacks who vote for someone because he is black? No qualifications, no proven success in governmental matters, no experience in running a business, very questionable background as far as associates, however, voting for him BECAUSE he is and they are BLACK? As you can tell, I'm tired of the double standard and the Dems getting a pass. No pass from me.*smiles with anticipation*

That it so old, it doesn't annoy me any more. I'm not a racist. I'm a bigot. I hate socialists.

Also, I'm proud to be a Republican!

Got a nerve, I did.

I did NOT say that ALL Republicans hate blacks. Just like not all Baptists hate gays. Or whatever. But you cannot deny that there are those wrapping themselves oh so tightly in their American flags and shouting out at a Teabagger function whose main issue is the color of our President's skin. You simply cannot say that it's not so.

To Synergy's point - I made that same comment here over a year ago, I think. It was dismaying to see how many blacks did NOT vote for the Republican party candidates. I don't recall the numbers now but it was quite startling. Disproportionate. The only inference you could draw was that these folks voted for Barrack because he was black.

No double standards, here. That's the beauty of being objective.

:) Are you ALWAYS objective? Uh-huh. Anyway, I understand what you are saying. Didn't remember the post. Too long ago.

Now, it has been proved that there were "plants" in the Tea Party gatherings. Who's to say that those were not "plants" making those statements? I may not be as objective as you are, however, those opposing the Tea Parties resorted to some fairly low tactics.

:D Why, of COURSE I am. LOL

Games played on both sides, you know that. Would not surprise me at all if someone took advantage of the situation. But, objectively, you gotta admit that there are teabaggers whose primary reason for being in the group is skin color - whether they admit it or not.

We're not as evolved as we like to think. Gods know this forum sure proves it.

:D It's enough to drive one to drink. That and all the talk of Mexican restaurants on that other thread. Be a good day to sit out and work out the world's issues around a pitcher of margaritas, I'm thinking...

taking it back to the group descending on Georgia in the guise of passing judgement on those who "sin" before God, daring to boast praise for the dead soldier....It is hard to retain a Christian attitude toward someone like that! Indeed it is a true test of my faith to turn the other cheek! I know of some veterans who travel town to town behind this group to silently stand between them and the grieving families as a shield of security and reassurance.

There will probably never come a day when we will truly understand the human mind, but how is it that a GROUP can be so...I don't know. I suppose anything I say can be judgemental as well. It just doesn't make sense to me. Hurting others? I don't get it!
