District One Commission Freddie Ashmon, Jr. should step down. He is a very anger and dangerous man.

In March 2006 a Douglas County Judge issued a protective order and found that he violated the Georgia Family Violence Act by committing violence against his family.# 06cv00948 March 30 2008

On June 12 2009 a Judge issued a warrant for his arrest for "simple battery" for verbally and physically attacking a citizen at a town hall meeting after the citizen asked a few questions.

A constituent reported Commissioner Ashmon, in a rage, called Douglas County voters "a bunch of God damn idiots" for voting against the Tax Allocation Districts TAD.

Ashmon is an embarrassment to District One. He needs to be removed from office.

Be sure you vote July 20th.

Didn't his criminal case get transfered to Carroll County where it got ditched by the prosecutor. I it true that the County Attorney Ken Bernard represented him on his charges?

I think Mr. Benard represented the county in the case where Freddie slapped that nut at the meeting. If Benard defended Freddie in Carroll, it was because they know each other. Benard is at all of the commission meetings and is a very good attorney. It would make sense that he would defend some one he knows well.

I'm a Republican and I wouldn't vote for Freddie if her were in my district. BUT, and there's a big but there, many people that truly know him feel he's a good guy. These people are other Republican folks that I would never think would like Freddie. Maybe ya'll should try to get to know the fellow a little.

He's shown himself to be a bigot (if the reports are correct), and a hothead. We've had some of those in office before, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing.

I'm not saying he hasn't been ugly. He has let some people push his buttons. If you remember, I'm one that has ranted against him in the past. I'm one that has said the same things you've said above. I just know a lot of people think better of him. People that I know and trust their opinions.

Hubert's a good man! I had no idea he's a pastor. I've talked to him on many occasions and he's never mentioned that.

That "nut" is not a nut at all. He is a very dedicated and honest citizen that felt District 1 deserved better representation. His name is Jimmy Hulsey and he is a friend to many in this county.

I would like to know the good about him also. It's simply unfair to judge him on the basis of the reports we have, even though what we know is rather damaging. What are his positives / why should he be reelected to office, and what is he doing to eliminate his bad traits? I like to seek truth, even if it upsets me.

According to many in his district, he had done quite a bit for them. I don't live in that district.

Also, people he works with on projects have nothing but praise. Keep in mind, I don't like his outbursts and feel he's a hot head too. I just listen to those that really know him.

Mike, these folks that speak well of him are Republicans not in his district too. They have no agenda in that race.

So, what we know, is that he's an ass... and at least some of his constituents love him and what he's done. IMHO, sometimes we need an ass in public office to get things done... Sure wish he could control his temper, though.

He needs only to refine his image, and run for office as the Reverend Freddie Ashmon Jr.

I was at the meeting where Commission Ashmon assaulted Mr. Hulsey. Jimmy asked a very simple question. "Why have you missed so many meetings". Ashmon exploded and approached Jimmy and slapped the papers from his hands. The Sentinel showed Ashmon in a rage showing his teeth like an angry APE. At that point Jimmy had the right to kick his ass. Jimmy kept his cool.

Ashmon needs to be replaced.

I wonder what he did against his exwife?
