Are all those employees legal? If not, good riddance. Why should the citizens of this state be "held hostage" by illegals who don't pay their share of taxes?

Paul - did you read the articles you post:

Tyson chicken producer drops plans for Georgia plant

By Associated Press

LAFAYETTE, Ga.-- A Tyson Foods subsidiary that breeds chickens has dropped plans to build a 459-acre poultry farm in the West Armuchee Valley in northwest Georgia.

James Bell, president of Arkansas-based Cobb-Vantress Inc., and Steve Iseler, the company's marketing director, confirmed the decision today.

The company is LOOKING FOR ANOTHER GEORGIA LOCATION, Iseler said.

About 65 residents had formed an opposition group, Save The Valley Inc., to fight the company's original proposal. They argued that runoff from the plant could contaminate five freshwater springs and its incinerator could pollute the air.

The company planned to build 17 chicken houses on the property, holding 85,000 birds, Iseler said. The operation would have employed 23 people.

This one has nothing to do with TYSON - nor the legislation - it's about the market.

Pilgrimís Pride to close 900-worker Georgia plant
By P…RALTE C. PAUL

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Friday, February 27, 2009

Pilgrimís Pride Corp. said Friday it will close a South Georgia poultry plant, eliminating the jobs of all 900 workers.

The layoff was part of broader cost-cutting moves announced by the Pittburg, Texas, based company, which sought bankruptcy protection in December.

The closure of the Douglas, Ga., plant compounds the stateís bleak jobs picture. Georgiaís unemployment rate soared to a record 8.6 percent in January, state officials said earlier in the week. It is projected to go higher amidst a global economic slowdown.

Pilgrimís Pride said it will close the Douglas plant and two in other states starting in April; the three had 3,000 employees combined. The company said it will incur about $35 million in pre-tax charges but save $110 million of annual costs.

It also plans to nix contracts with 430 independent chicken farmers who supply the birds to those plants, including 140 farmers in Georgia.

The Douglas plant had been a Gold Kist Inc. facility. Pilgrimís Pride acquired the then Atlanta-based Gold Kist in 2007 for $1.3 billion.

The company said the moves were necessary because thereís an oversupply of commodity chicken ó birds that are raised to be sold on the spot market, not to a particular customer.

Pilgrimís Pride shares fell more than four percent Friday, losing 4 pennies to close at 86 cents per share.

When they raided that chicken place in Iowa a year or so back, over 300 mexicans sent packing back to their country, 2 days later over 1200 people, whites and blacks, showed up for the jobs

Old articals....But even if they were current, the original post here couldn't be true, you put the processing plants near where the chickens are raised. Shipping a 1000 miles is too expensive and the loss (death) rate would be too high.

Good riddance!! I will remember who the traitors to America are, when I choose Chicken products and inform all my friends and family, NOT to support any product remotely connected with Tyson Corporation, Conagra foods, or any other entity who supports UNLAWFUL immigration to our Country. Best of luck to all of you.
Now you can move to Mexico, and breathe anhydrous ammonia without any thought to your health. Mexico will allow any chemical in their air and water, for the sake of a Peso!

Air quality- Douglasville ranks 9 out of 100. The lower the number the worse the air.
It ranks #1 in foreclosures in the state.
Unlawful immigration at center. Perhaps that is why they are moving away.

Evidently, you have no idea how "Importing" into the USA works.
If American companies move their operation to Mexico, they must pass inspection of their product, by Agriculture and the FDA, prior to being allowed to bring their poultry into the USA.
Escaping "Obama's socialist agenda?" There is no such thing, when it comes to safeguarding the food we consume. Either you want your food to meet certain criteria (which has nothing to do with the President) or you are willing to eat any garbage that comes across the border. The choice is yours, of course, but it does not make good business sense, to move your operation to Mexico, or any other country, and have to pay, to ship it back in REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS, to anywhere else. Why do you think Kia, and Toyota opened factories here, to gain a greater share of the American market? Shipping only increases your cost of doing business here.... but you wouldn't know that, right?
DUH.
