Ok. I know what happened at the theatre. My good friend is in the administation of Arbor Place, but I will not give his/her title. This is confirmed by an officer as well. During the movie, a fight broke out in the theatre. The fight was stopped and the theatre was cleared out. Upon inspection, a loaded gun was found on the floor of the theatre. There were no reports of it being fired or pointed at anyone. HOWEVER, it should have been on the news. My informant at the Mall said they did not deem this news-worthy at the time. I also was told by my informant that legal steps were being taken to stop parents from dropping kids off on the weekend nights and leaving them. If they are under a certain age, they HAVE to have a parent with them. I think he said 16. While I find them completely obnoxious,I do not think these kids were the problem on the night of the incident. It was between two "gangs", though the kids won't admit they're in a gang. To an officer, the gangs are obvious.

You don't like Douglasville? I-20 runs both eastbound and westbound. And do we want a "reason" to "lock somebody up?" We don't need a reason to have criminals put in jail. They do a fine job of giving us the reason themselves.

This has gone on long enough - The incident at the mall has been blown completely out of proportion. Yes there was an incident. Yes the mall was in chaos, but if you look around our little city is no longer a little city. With growth comes the responsibility of growth. There were no shots fired at Arbor Place. Yes a gun was found and bullets were found outside but nothing had been fired. This has turned into a waste of time. Instead of coming together we are pushing each other away. It is time to wise up Douglasville. The mall is no place to "hang out". Parents, don't leave your kids completely unattended. Where there are teens gathering there will be trouble, maybe not harmful to health but definatly to the mind. The staff of the mall is not there to babysit, but in fact that is what they are doing. Take ownership of your own action and you own children. Don't wait until there is a shooting to become defensive. Take action Now!

U already noe, learn to speak english. The ebonics thing isn't cute and it won't get you a job and if you end up in jail and don't know how to count and speak, you won't get much there either. I know that you know better than this. I don't have to know you to know that you are better than this and that you can do better than this. You need to stop the shit and start fulfilling your potential. I don't know how old you are but I'm thinking you are a teen or in your very early twenties. You have go your whole life in front of you. Don't be a follower be a leader. Set the example don't be the example. Don't tell me about the streets, I am from Brooklyn, New York and I see it everyday and am dying to get away from it. I am not going to play the education card because I don't know if you have it or what it is. I am going to tell you to be the best you that you can be. You only get one chance at this life and it is not a dress rehearsal. You sound very angry. I've been angry too but you have got to learn how to channel it in a positive way. That doesn't mean you have to be afraid of anyone or bow down but you can't run around with the kill the cracker mentality. Use what you got (your brain) to get what you want. I don't know you but I've got nothing but love for you. I hope you don't take what I said the wrong way but if you take it any way, you're still taking it and that means you are thinking about what I said.

I have been a resident of douglas county all my life, same neighborhood and friends since my elementary days. I'm now 22 yrs old and since my middle school years I have seen so many changes in douglas county. The drugs and fights have always been around as with any town, big or small but since the opening of the mall and the population explosion of this county it has gone downhill at an exponential rate. As far as the race card goes, its not totally to blame on a certain ethnicity, for it has always been around. However since recent events in this country there has been what seems to be a major increase in folks of a certain "ethnicity" who seem to think that they now own Douglasville, and that the citizens of this city owe them something. We owe you nothing and if you have a problem with this town, pack it up and move yourself back to where you came from. Stand up and act like an upstanding citizen of a respectable community, as douglasville once was (i now think of this county as a sell out, only greedy for money). We are not looking for a reason to lock you up, but when you gather, throw up gang signs and what not and purposely running patrons out of businesses,(such as the mall purely because most folks dont want a confrontation), you are asking to be questioned, searched and or arrested for delinquent behavior. Its time for the citizens of this county to take a stand, against the rebellious "ethnic" community to whom we owe nothing, the government of this county and stop this exploding growth from greed for money. We must stand up as a community or let Douglasville slip into the ghetto and crime ridden community that it is so quickly headed for

I recently seen on the news where there was gang activity at Arbor Mall. I agree that Arbor Mall was built and it has brought in the "trouble." Reference back to Shannon Mall and Cumberland Mall. What have those two Malls become. Arbor is not far behind. It's a shame that our children cannot go to the Mall and have some place to "hang-out" without some nimbwhit coming along and showing off. The trouble with having gangs are, you have parents that do not care what their kids are out doing, or you have parents that are doing it themselves. Teaching from example. The excuse, "well some parents are good and do not know what their kids are out doing." Well, if that was the case we wouldnt have gangs or children looking to get attention. If the crazy kids were getting at home what they are "thinking" they are finding in gangs, we would have a society with some well mannered children. Too bad most parents out there aren't worth having kids. Everytime you speak with a gang member in prison, they will tell you their whole life and what they did not get from their parents. All they wanted was attention and to look "cute" and in reality they looked "stupid" and eventually got caught and now behind bars. Reality will catch up with them and paying the price not only on earth but in Heaven; they will have to face. Douglas County was on the news wanting everyone to come together as a community and spoke about helping them out. WHY? Because they have let it get too far without speaking to our community at hand, and have not stood their grounds in keeping our community safe, so now they need "our" help. Too late for that. Someone from the school board spoke about parenting getting more involved with school. Well if parents werent involved then, what makes them think they'll be involved now. The entire reason you have troubled kids at school are because the parents arent even involved at home. It all starts at home. And from what I have seen in D'ville schools, the administrators and teachers are afraid to speak up. What ever happened to the students being afraid of the teachers? No wonder there are more homeschooled children. I heard from a source that the assistant principal at Factory Shoals Elemetary, believes that parents cannot keep their children away from the "bad" kids. Well, news flash, I am a parent and I most certainly "can" keep my kids away from the "bad" kids. I dont care if I have to go to school with them each day. If kids are taught well at home they will not want around the bad ones. Some assistant principal that school has. Wonder how their school is run on a daily basis? Before I close, I personally feel that we do need to stand up, with our community commissioners, etc behind or ahead of us.. and if you get everyone running off the gangs and letting the other copy-cats know that we will not stand for it in our town, then they'll have to run. No one can stand up against an army (our town). When they are face to face with more than they are, they'll run from it.

My Brother is a detective for the city of Douglasville, who works a 2nd job in uniform at the mall on weekends.
5 people were arrested. NONE of them were Douglasville locals. A fight started inside of a movie and escalated outside of the movie theatre.
Due to the continuous problems the riff raff from Atlanta are causing at the mall minors(under 18) will no longer be allowed inside of the mall after 6pm WITHOUT a parent with them.
As I told my brother the minors hanging out there are not the issue here. It's adults coming in from Atlanta which are the problem. I also worked in one of the main dept. stores there for 2 yr's, and just recently quit. I can also tell you 9 times out of 10 when a shoplifter is caught, they are not from Douglasville either.
The teens who only go there to hang out with friends, shop, eat dinner or go to the movies now must suffer due to the ghetto trash that keeps causing problems there. Sorry if anyone is offended by that statement, but it's 100% true.

It never ceases to amaze me how idiotic parents can be. Every parent says not MY CHILD. Well let me tell you, it is YOUR CHILD!!!! If you dont believe me just secretly put a recording device both video and audio in their possession when they go to the mall next time. I work there and I see it. Not only are there gangs and drugs but ladies they are recruiting your daughters for prostitution! Go into a place where kids frequent (white, black and hispanic) and look at all the 50 and 100 dollar bills . Just where do you think they come from . I welcomed the mall just not the crime. Douglasville officials need to stop using our money for PORK and start using it for the infrastructure that should have been created prior to this mall opening

You are seriously insane. My brother happens to be one of the City of Douglasville police officers who works at the mall on the weekends, as his side job. His regular job is as a detective for the city.
I worked at Arbor Place for several yr's. I can tell you from personal exp. the local kids are not the main problem here, it's those coming from outside of the county.
Of course they can not specify who the problem causers are, due to lawsuits and claiming the mall to be discriminating. Every minor must suffer for what a select "group" are doing there.
Also I KNOW My kid is a good kid. I am sorry that you have doubts as to your parenting skills that you would make such blanket statements stating ALL Kids are into trouble. I've never heard about women at the mall recruiting young girls for prostitution either. Where did you hear that BS story at? I can easily ask if there is any truth to it.
See if you really work at the mall and are there 5-6 days a week like I was for 4 yr's you'd KNOW who causes the trouble there. It isn't the Douglasville kids. The biggest issue they have with the local kids is smoking and standing around inside in big groups where people can not get around them. For the most part they are there to eat, see a movie, go to the gameroom or to simply walk around and shop.
They are not the ones coming there with guns or an agenda to pick a fight when they show up. The ones doing this are for the most part OVER 18. RARELY do any minors cause what I would say is a problem(fights etc.)It's the damn adults coming over from Atlanta.
They want to make sure they turn Arbor Place into another Cumberland mall. Many stores in Cumberland have closed down due to massive amounts in shrinkage, and gang problems.

For years our wonderful quiet community was the "secret" area which no one knew about....then the politicians wanted a MALL - shopping, restaurants -TAXES etc.., now our area is the same as everywhere else...thugs gallore - I am a local native who is very sad about what I now see and in the process of moving to another "secret" area we just found...
Good Luck with the THUGS in Douglas County. I am saving my family from the Junk of Atlanta.

DLP I couldn't agree more with your 2 posts. I am a lifelong resident as well in my mid 30's.
I tell ya I blame so much of this on Rita Rainwater. She was in office when ALL of this massive development was approved. Now you have Commissioner Worthan in office left to clean up this mess.
I am not too pleased with this new ban on minors in the mall without a parent. I have a 17 yr. old, who is mature and doesn't go to the mall just to hang out. She is either shopping with the money she makes working, going to a movie or eating dinner at Johnny Rockets. The kids are not the problem here. The worst they do is loiter, and if that is the worst of their problems I am alright with that. It's the ghetto trash coming over from Atlanta that is starting the fights, bringing the guns and shoplifting. Of course they can not pin point a certain group out of fear of discrimination lawsuits, so instead they make it look as if the teens there are the problem. WELL THEY ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. I can vouvh for that 1,000%. Not only do I go to Arbor place most weekends, I also work in the mall.
I've had times where I am walking to the food court during my break, and I will pass a group of thugs(baggy pants, huge shirts, bandana's on their heads, gold teeth) and they will make racist remarks as I walk by. I am not no stupid cracker bitch as one group put it. It was uncalled for, and it just shows you the mentality that so many who come there from the inner city have.
I am so surprised that there hasn't been a murder there yet. That's sad to say,but that mall has turned VERY Dark on the weekends if you know what I mean.

the new "youth escort policy" needs to be changed a little, because i think its too extreme. Teenagers in the state are allowed to drive at 16, and the policy keeps them (us) from using that privilage to go to the only place in douglasville to go on the weekends. If you really take a look most teenagers that go to the mall on a regular basis are in their middle school years so the place is running with 12-14 year old not 16,17. Yeah, their are kids in that age group that go but they go to late movies and not that often. So i dont understand why the age limit is so high, you have a kid who can drive legally but cant go somewhere w/out their mommy or daddy isnt fair, the rule dosent balance others out. And you'll always will have problems with teenagers douglas county just has it a lil worse than others. And if you want to get rid of the mall problem GIVE US A PLace TO GO, because the mall isnt that great of a plcae we go cuz its close and a last resort. since we have nothin to do in this boring county then you reall cant complain about kids running around the mall only about the crime problem
