Faith-Based and Community Initiatives - As Chairman I hope to build a partnership with the communities to build a county that values dignity and equality for all people. This initiative believe we have more that unites us than divides us, and that people can honor their convictions through work for the Common Good. I support religious freedom and the right of all people to worship as they see fit. As Chairman, the county will fund 2 million a year to support Faith Based Social Programs. I will also be asking our local Churches to get more involved and take a bigger role in our social programs. The purpose of government is to help the people and that exactly what I am going to do.

He is a fake ladies and gentlemen!!- I have seen him many times purchase beer and wine at local stores especially on Hwy 5 (Fast and Friendly at BrightStar and Hwy 5)and looking very drunk! Yes it was James Quarterman. He is a sheep in wools clothing!

I ask "what church do you serve as I need to call and advise them what I saw and ask if the approve of YOUR alcohol purchases and drinking while serving your church.

I too have seen him purchase alcohol. That is OK, unless you then " are hiding behind a church position to seem saintly. That is the Hypocritical thing that gets me! What church does he go to?

his website is always the same if he is running for commissioner or chairman it will just replace that one word he is only running for chair man because it is an open spot and he can't keep a permanent residence in a district long enough that is what got him disqualified during the July 2006 district 2 special election.

I would have voted for him years ago but he made some racial comments that made me vote different. I don't think we need race issues at every county meeting because they can't get much accomplished as it is.

I'm not saying Quarterman is any kind of a church man. I am saying that using the "I saw him buy a beer at the gas station" as reasoning to support that claim is pretty ignorant.

The first 3 minutes of any time Quarterman speaks he usually makes sense. If he'd just zip it after that he might actually fool a few people into voting for him. He once told me that First Commerce wouldn't allow him to open up a bank account because he was black even though he'd just sold some crack and had $500 to put in a savings account. I'm sure he was kidding, but jeez!

Not every church has a problem with people drinking alcohol, and the ones that do are misguided and ignorant in my opinion. They're more akin to cults than christianity as far as I'm concerned. And what do you mean by "type of character"? Consuming alcohol is considered bad character in your opinion? What are you, an 18th century Quaker?

I'm voting for him. Didn't you see the indoor beach he is going to build for us. He is also going to revitalize downtown D'ville. Just look at those pictures on his website of the downtown area he has planned. There are black people ih JQ's revitalized area.

Mr. Quarterman has sued Douglas County and the Development Authority numerous times, each time claiming "pauper" status so that he doesn't have to pay filing fees, Court costs, etc. He has lost every case because these are frivolous lawsuits designed to draw attention to himself, and he admitted that in Court when the Judge asked him why he filed them! The County and Development Authority countersuted Quarterman and won over $30,000 in legal fees - taxpayers' monies that the County was forced to spend to defend against Quarterman's frivolous suits - and Quarterman has yet to pay one penny. Mr. Quarterman does not have a job, nor has he had one for years. His wife supports the family with a job with the Federal Reserve in Atlanta. Mr. Quarterman runs for office every 2 years, and has been defeated each time. He has run for different districts of County Commissioner and now he is running for Chairman. If you visit his web site, you will see that it is full of lies and statements that proves he does not know what he is talking about. For example, he wants different things for the Douglas County School System. The County Board of Commissioners has nothing to do with the School System! That is the responsibility of the Board of Education! They assess their own taxes and have their own Board! And Mr. Quarterman has been told this dozens of times but he doesn't listen! Please do not vote for this man - he doesn't have a clue!

I agree with much of what you say. There is a change a comin' according to some. I wonder why that change hasn't come to the people of Africa? Just a thought. How long has this country been sending aid and help and so forth and nothing has changed.Wouldn't you think people who use the right side of their brain could figure it out by now? I do not include the Godly people that live there. God bless them to carry on in the mist of chaos. I do not want to be forced by any government official to give money to a social cause. I was listening to Jeremiah Wright speak last night. He covered alot of subject matter. This country [white] has had it wrong all along in how blacks are educated. Hummmmm..........They don't use the left side of the brain to learn but Africans use the right side. Does this explain why as Mr. Wright gave his NAACP speech, 5 people including a pastor were killed right there in Chicago? There were blacks in the streets everywhere. They have had I think 356 murders since 1/2008. Not one word was spoken by him as to what the solution was for so much violence.I have never seen one black leader speak out on this matter.I get the feeling again it is the white man's fault. I hate slavery. I do not agree with it. I had nothing to do with slavery in America. I hope we aren't reaping what people did centuries ago.I am looking forward to the day when all of this chaos will be over.
