So I hear that AP is opening new stores. I go to look one up and know what I see? All black people. Not one white person advertised at all. If a company, any company only featured black or spanish people in their advertising papers, or commercials they would be called racist. So now we have bladez, all black hair cutting, and another store where every time I see in there every single person in their is wearing drooped pants and is black. And now we have this place. And don't come in here calling ME a racist either! This is a fact and you know it. I happen to work in a furniture store and an office at a college. Guess what? Black people are always the ones not paying their bills. My cousin is a waiteress in Dalls. They don't even tip and they don't pay their house bills either. I know white people do that to but come on! Blacks do it WAY more and everyone knows it. So, I can see the mall closing down in a few years after these businesses realize thst having an all black mall is pretty stupid considering all the wear once and returns they're going to have. Also, whites will completely stop going there. I am. Bad business move if you ask me. No go ahead and say that I'm a racist as you go shopping in your ALL BLACK stores!

AMEN!! Just about stopped going there myself. Go to the movies once in awhile but it is smells so inside the theaters, that we take spray to spray around us and wipe the seats and armrests off--usually very sticky.

Great...more of a reason to avoid the mall. The only thing I go there for anymore is Gamestop and the movies. Once in a while I will go to Macys, Hot Topic, etc. but even those I rarely find what I want or need anymore.

I don't know that I agree with all of your comments, but my family rarely go to the mall now. We drive 45 mins to shop in Anniston or go to Hiram - much nicer atmosphere. Also noticed that non of my son's friends want to go and hang out either - oh how times have changed!

Who is responsible for recruiting businesses for the mall? I think it used to be(maybe still is) a guy named Bill Ball. Does anyone know?

It would appear he's still in the area and still with CBL & Associates. I would imagine at this point it's not the easiest job in the world to get businesses to set up shop in a new location...even though there are plenty of choices regarding real estate.

True, however, this "trend" has been going on for some time. I am beginning to think the DC demographics ARE driving which stores open in the mall. It's only making matters worse. Such a shame.

Aren't we getting a Forever 21? They have fun, trendy items at affordable prices. The fashion stylists in most of the magazines always show items from there.

They should just go ahead and put in a WIC/Food Stamp/Welfare/Section 8 office complex while they are at it.

I guess we could also add bail bondsmen, parole office, child support payment location, and gin & juice stand :)

I just looked. There are three stores due to open this year at Arbor Place. Crazy 8, a clothing line for kids. Forever 21, a trendy clothing store for young people and Ashley Stewart. Ashley Syewart is a store that caters to the larger sized lady.

It is true that AS does have an all ethnic ad campaign. It is aimed at an ethnic audience. But, if you look up the ads for the other two stores, they are predominantly, if not all, white. Out of 5 pages, showing 100 models, every one was white. I saw NO black people in trhem at all. On any pages.
Crazy 8 only had the clothing but the models that were shown were white. But I do completely believe that if Sharpton or Jackson decided Forever 21 was racist because of their advertising, there would be a very public outrage while Ashley Stewarts all black ad campaign would be ignored. Completely and utterly true.

My elderly mother wanted to go shopping this Christmas. We went to Arbor Place Mall. She said it reminded her of planet of the apes. I guess we should all beware.
