I hope this article explains alot more than what the broadcast did. This individual I know. He is a veteran who has been to Afghanistan and fought in the war. Saw things we cant explain. Has recently went through a divorce and lost custody of his kids. Was on suicide watch at the VA hospital early that week. Was off meds given to him and he snapped. No excuse I know and he will have to pay for what he has done because its wrong but please dont bash him because the normal individual is a good guy who would have never done this. Im sadden by it. I wish he could have found the help he needed and supervision/counseling that could have guided him to a better life.

Not bashing him. I was showing people that he does need help and didn't get the help he needed. Maybe this would not have happened if he did get the help he needed.

I know the "suspect" and his family. He is a good guy (with some mental issues) that comes from a great family. Now, I do NOT in anyways think that he has the right to go around beating up elderly men. But I do think that Sy has some serious metal issues that need to me taken care of. Obviously, someone in their right mind would not beat an elderly man and try to steal his car. Sy's wife did leave him and took two of his daughters. He did not take that well. Sy should not have been discharged from the VA, PERIOD, end of story. Sy needs to be punished for his actions. BUT he does not need prison, he needs a mental institution to get the help he needs to control his mental disabilities.

I work in public service and have to clean up the mess of people who "snap". Obviously, anybody who would beat up an eldrly man like that and rob him has mental problems!!! That is all the more reason to lock him up, so he won't think he got away with it. He has proven to the public that he is unstable an likely to do it again.
