I heard a rumor that we're getting an LA Fitness in D'ville. Anyone know about this?

Heard it for years. Was supposed to be in the open space across from C & M Bank on Chapel Hill - but only the "rumor" has been built so far

With Anytime 24/7 on the corner and Golds just a few blocks down along with a poor economy. I seriously doubt that it is anything more than a rumor. The dirt park will remain just that for the time being. The only thing that I see happening there is occasionally they will move a mound or 2 of dirt to a new position. But they did put up a nice new traffic light there. To bad they wont turn it on and give some relief to those in Longview Estates.

I can't think of a reason anyone would switch to LA Fitness if they are already going to one of the Gold's Gyms here in town. The facility on Chapel Hill is ranked one of the best Gold's Gym facilities in the country.

It's a lot cheaper if you do a paid in full membership. It worked out to only $21/month. Also, they have a kids club membership for child care that is only $15/month. I have 2 children, and the amount of time I spent in the gym, it was much cheaper for me to drive to Austell everyday than go to Gold's.

Ive heard the same thing. A friend talked to someone at the property management company who said they were planning it. Though I won't put much stock in it til I see some concrete being poured.

Hey guys, believe it or not, a friend of mine went to the Gold's Gym on Hospital Drive yesterday and got a membership for $15 a month. I called last night and it's no gimmick. You only get to go to Hospital Drive but what the heck, it's $15! I'll be there by the weekend!

Cool! Is there a membership charge? I go to World Class 24 but not real happy about it. Does Hospital Drive still have the pool?

Yeah. He said it took $74 to start but he got to pick when he pays dues. I don't know if it includes the pool but I don't swim.

It does not include the pool, classes, or tennis courts-it is equipment only. However, they are almost finished with a new theater room where you will be able to watch a movie on a huge screen while you do your cardio. I definitely recommend checking it out, it's going to be a big hit. The pool is closing at the end of this summer. The heater went out, and it will be very expensive to remodel. I would like more information about the LA Fitness. I have been a member for a long time, but could not afford to drive to East Cobb anymore. I love Gold's, but LA Fitness is awesome as well.

I hear Gold's on Douglas' new deal won't offer the group classes either. Still $15 mo is a great deal. Their equipment is really good.

I heard the same, and hope it is true, since the Gold's Gym on Hospital Drive is closing their pool.

If LA Fitness opened Golds would be gone. I hate Golds. Twice the credit card they have had on file over the years has expired and both times instead of just picking up the phone and calling, they have tried to hit me with late fees. For supposedly being such a local customer focused business, they sure have been a pain. All you people who are all ga-ga over Golds need to get outside of D'ville and see what else the world has to offer. The Y would even have been a dramatic improvement over Golds.

You will find more "dirt" on LA Fitness Centers than you can imagine. I've been there but I'm not going back. The local Golds clubs wont have any trouble retaining their business once people get a taste of how LA Fitness does business.

Hi MSO4....wow, just noticed this post. You know that I would have returned the hello if I had seen it. Just over looked it. I've been in and out of town and just didn't see much to comment on lately. Looks like the political circus is heating up so I'll be chiming in more often. Catch ya later!

Rumor has it they are going to hang sign that say "no sweating" "no grunting". They don't want people who come there and don't workout to be intimidated by people who work out.
They don't want people to workout just pay dues.
Silliness if you ask me.
