Imagine that I patrol the streets day in and day out. I'm outfitted with a gun, a cell phone and protective gear (bulletproof vest, protection against knives, etc).

While patrolling, I come across some screams coming from an apartment. I run to the window and peer in. Inside is Mrs. Dogood, the local librarian and school teacher, who spends some of her free time at the homeless shelter helping the homeless, some more time with orphans and even more time at the local animal shelter as well.

Mrs. Dogood is being raped by a unmasked assailant who is only armed with a knife. I don't call for help and I don't stop the rape, I just continue to watch through the window.(remember, I have a gun and a cell phone)

I then see the assailant slice Mrs. Dogoods throat and I watch her die. I then watch as the assailant chops Mrs. Dogoods body into pieces and places them into garbage bags and loads them into the trunk of her car and drive away towards the city dump. I realize that I know the assailant as the local mailman, John Doe.

I never reported it and I could have stopped it.

Now, i ask you, would call me a good person? Would you say that I was loving and caring? I had the ability to stop this attack, but I sat back and watched.

No, you would say that I was a sick, demented, freak that gets off on watching others suffer and die. You would say I was a coward and evil for allowing such a grotesque attack to occur.

The point is that the god you believe in and so adamantly protect does this approximately every 152 seconds of every single day of every single year.

How is this just? How is this love? How is god benevolent, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent? He's not, because he is completely imaginary!

A prime mover who stands outside of creation and lets its processes take place, and then doles out eternal ultimate justice would answer your tired philippic--and you prove only that your mom should have douched.

Agnosticism is the ONLY rational position--and you need your ass beat for being such a little undergrad troll.

But that's not what I'm talking about. What I'm arguing against is the god of Abraham, the Jewish, Christian and Islamic god. The one people believe does intervene in daily human life, the one that answers prayers, the one that knows when you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake!

A prime mover that creates the earth and life and them steps back and lets it all play out the way it does and then punishes you for doing the wrong things makes less sense then the interactive menu god.

That's like having a kid and not showing him manners and every time he smarts off you write it down. Then on his 18th birthday you punch him in his face 50 times for every infraction. The kid never knew he was doing anything wrong.

Oh, I am agnostic and I agree that it is the only rational position to take. I can't prove god doesn't exist and no one can say for 100% either way. However, based on the current proof for the existence of god, I am 99.9% sure there is no god.

agnostics and atheists are moving forward with bigger and better questions and believers are still spewing the same arguments for god.

I probably do need an ass whooping, how big a boy are ya?

I actually tend to agree with you about most things, but wonder why you care so much what people believe--I am more than large enough.

If the only thing we know--small sill voice etc.--is the inherent difference between right and wrong as Bertrand Russell suggested, then we are responsible for our actions and MAY have to answer for them--I can accept that type of creator but no other.

I can accept that as well.

My problem with believers is that they close the door to reason and do not accept any sort of criticism or any proof that is contrary to their belief.
Their beliefs are not based on facts and are based on fairy tales and fiction that they push as fact and that is unacceptable

On the other hand if sound, testable proof of god, any god, ever surfaces I WILL change my tune. I have that option as an agnostic/atheist/rational thinker.

What if God were light, and we were either proactive towards the light, or reactive, moving away from it.

( and we can prove light exists)

When we react, we become less Godlike, and when we are proactive, we become more God like.

So when you watch this atrocity that you describe, and react by moving away, and ignoring, and pretending it didn't happen, in that you aren't reporting it, you are becoming less God like, moving away from light, and when you are proactive and do something, you are becoming more God like.

And since you are not acting very God like in the situation you describe, then perhaps you are afraid of you, being harmed, getting involved, or maybe you are in denial, but there is a cause for why you are acting the way you act. i am not sure that has to do with God, but you.

And as humans we are continually wading between both, but often we spend way too much time reacting and not enough time, acting. It takes effort, and moving outside of our reactive comfort zone, to move towards light, and God.

So, no responses from the religious crowd?

It seems that TGR nailed exactly what God does daily. Do none of you christ-bots see that your god, if he exists, is an a$$mat?

The reason your having so much trouble with this is because the holy spirit is trying to come into your heart. Why can't u just except it and let him in. You could do worse. He does reveal himself. You will see it. I know you think I'm a racist after all the mean stuff I said to you and I'm sorry about that, but I'm not. God bless you!

Dude, you are a self-admitted racist and sexist, I definitely do not need help from you! You need to help yourself.

And if you are seeing apparitions, feeling "holy spirits" and speaking to invisible beings, you suffer from psychosis. Believing in such things against all the evidence that exists proving that none of those things are possible is delusional.
