That's the easiest way to summarize the collapse of the Democratic candidates around the country on tuesday.

In Virginia and New Jersey the Republican victories last night were bigger than they were in 1993.



Voters were clearly unhappy. According to Mike Allen of The Politico, network exit polls showed that 85 percent of Virginia voters and 90 percent of New Jersey voters were worried about the economy.

Governor Haley Barbour put it best: "It's not about the President personally...the President's policies are unpopular."

It will be interesting to see if any congressional Democrats get that message or if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is able to push through the massive leftwing health bill this coming Saturday.

Four Democratic Seats are Now at Risk
Four Democratic congressmen from Virginia are now at risk because their districts went for Bob McDonnell last night.
In Rep. Glenn Nye's (D) 2nd District, McDonnell was winning by a whopping 63 percent to 37 percent with 130 out of 161 precincts reporting.

In Rep. Tom Perriello's (D) 5th District, McDonnell was winning by 61-39 with over 90 percent of the vote counted.

In Rep. Rick Boucher's (D) 9th District, McDonnell was ahead 68-32 with 295 out of 336 precincts in.

In Rep. Gerald Connolly's (D) 11th District, McDonnell was up 56-44 with 68 of 168 precincts reporting.

THe way the voting is going, AMERICAN PEOPLE that support the economy are TIRED OF THE BULLSHIT-so Obama and pelosis best days are now behind them.

And what about the message of NY 23rd? The conservative Republican was shot down in flames, which might be a message that Republicans had better start moderating instead of selling their souls to the extreme right.

There is the possibility that the election was more of a message about incumbency than Dem vs Rep.

And it is likely that Dems swept in on the Obama surge last year will be in a weaker position next year - a lot of those voters are not going to be back to the polls. Which is not really an indictment of Obama's policies...

It might not be an indictment of Obama's policies, but it sure points to what most people have known all along. Those people voted for color and nothing else. Sorry to bring it up, but in my opinion, that's the truth. Personally, I think the novelty is wearing off. The lastest gallup poll shows that Obama's numbers are falling in regard to following through on promises. The poll(I'll try to locate it) shows that even the number of Democrats that feel he has followed through on his promises has dropped. He did make an awful lot of promises. I guess he is like all other politicians. They'll say anything to get elected and then in the light of day...Oh, crap!!! lol

On the flip side, Obama is leaning to the extreme left which on the campaign trail, he promised to be moderate. That's hurting him, imo. I agree with your post, however.

You really need to listen to other sources besides Beck, Limbaugh and hannity. Remember the STop Obama Express --didn't work out too well. He seems to be working the Healthcare thing just like he did his election --cool, calm,no drama and continuing to move forward. His favorables stay in the 53%-57% range while Repub favorables stay far below.
NY23 told us as much or more about rightwing conservatives chances as the NJ and VA governorship. Is it more important to pick up seats in Congress? They vote on stuff.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that a whole heck of a lot of voters are concerned about the economy. However, If you had followed through on the logical conclusion of that thought --it doesn't mean that you can extrapolate that they blame Obama --unless you specifically ask that question and my guess is that your guy didn't. It was widely reported that the greatest percentage of voters indicated that their vote was locally driven, not nationally. In fact, there are a HUGE amount of people who believe the roots of this bad economy lie with Bush.
