23-year-old victim dies of a gunshot wound; police arrest suspect

A 23-year-old Queen City, Texas, man was shot and killed early Sunday in a Texarkana, Texas, park. A suspect in the killing has been arrested by Texas-side police.

Samuel E.“Sammy” Glass, 23, was found dead by a Texarkana, Texas, police officer who was dispatched about 5 a.m. Sunday to the scene at Grady T. Walace Park in Liberty-Eylau.

“He was the type of person you only had to meet once to be drawn to him,” said Glass’ older brother, David Glass of Texarkana, Texas.

Glass died of a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Gibson Hadaway and his body has been sent to the Dallas crime lab for an autopsy.

Funeral arrangements are pending through Hanner Funeral Service in Atlanta.

Thomas Hunter Davis, 23, of Texarkana, Texas, has been arrested and charged with murder. He has been booked into the Bi-State Justice Center Jail, and his bail had not been set by presstime Sunday.

Davis was arrested after the TTPD Criminal Investigation Division discovered that Glass and Davis had allegedly been involved in a disagreement sometime late Saturday or early Sunday.

It was on the news tonight that it was a night club disagreement that ended up with a 23 year old dead.

That make two this month.

That is just plain sad! Another young person with their whole life ahead of them, cut down and another grieving family. It sounds like the first altercation happened at a bar, and then what, he followed the kid to a park and shot him? Get him off the streets and throw away the key.

I don't know but if this man ever became a law officer.
But he did atend the academy as I understand it.
Yes dead at 23. I feel the family's pain.

I just wish these young kids and adults would take a look at this and not even want to go to the bars. They think this kind of stuff won't happen to them. I really wish they would put something in Atlanta for the kids to do!

We knew something was up when the city was all around us. The city dosen't come out here it is county. But it is the first way into the woods under the overpass. They spent most of the day in and out with atv's. The county did assist because I seen them.

I knew Sammy, the guy that was killed, we graduated high school in the same class. It is really shocking that he's gone and that this kind of violence happens in Texarkana.

It happend because of a QueenCity man came to meet a person for trouble.
It was as much his fault he that is dead as the man that pulled the trigger.
4 o:clock in the morning he should have been at home in bed.
At least the Davis man has been arrested for the homicide. UNLIKE THE COUNTY OF cAss. This man will be prosecuted.

They had been having trouble. The investigation isn't over. The hearsy with some of the locals is that he was set up by the girl.
If so she should be under arrest also.

If the man had only followed the law by not entering the park after curfew, he may also be alive.
So he came here breaking the law and got himself killed. Wow!

What I want to know is why does a 23 year old automatically think the ONLY solution to an altercation is solved with a firearm? Did he have the gun with him at the club? If he didn’t, and left to get it, and then followed the boy to the park, isn’t that premeditation? Won’t that mean the death penalty? This error in judgment cost two families their sons.

Tired I will have the details of what happend soon.
It does sound as if he had it on him. Then he had been to the police academy to my understanding. He may have had a permit. I'm being told that there is more to it. You know like WHY did the girl call him for help? And Why at that time of day did they decide to meet up in a city park where they knew they all could be locked up to begin with.
At least he is locked up. Not allowed to walk the streets as in cAss.
I feel the pain of the parents loss. Yet I know deep down inside they will recive justice in Bowie county.
