Ms Burch you may be right that some drivers don't pay attention but that does not go for the rest of them. We have alot of wonderful bus drivers that will go the extra to help and protect the kids that ride.
We do still have very good ppl and bus drivers in the world but it is the carelessness of the few that give the whole a bad name.

Bus drivers deal with alot the parents have no clue of. Just like the other post said by busdriver. We drivers get cussed at, yes mom and dad they do cuss. Also yes they spit on the floors and dip and some even smoke. Just got to catch them. They throw trash on the floors, why not they sure don't have to clean it up the bus drivers do. You have no idea of the crap the drivers put up with. Bus drivers do their best but all the control we have is to write them up. We do that then parents get mad with us. They get mad with Mr. Roberts or Buddy but never stop and think that child just might be in the wrong. Think about back when you road a bus. What kind of control did the driver have? ALOT " They would stop the bus and tear your butt up or if middle or high school put your butt off and you walked home. Sure is alot differant now.
I AM NOT saying that my child was innocent in the whole matter and FYI I understand that bus drivers have no control when a situation is volitile. I am saying that IF you know a problem is going on why not try to get it taking care of before it turns into a fight.

All of these bus drivers are taking this personally. I'm not out to down the bus drivers of Coffee Co. I'm just saying that if you are told by a child that someone is hitting them, then don't turn a blind eye to it. It is your responsibility as the driver to protect them while they are on the bus and that means from bullies as well.

He is there early to review tapes type up the referrals, then he has to go to the schools, so if you want to catch him there be there at 8am.

And why are you targeting Neil in this? he reports to work on time, does his job in the time he is supposed to do. If you have a problem with someone not being available 8 hours then take it up with the super at the board office.

He is doing a great job with bus discipline with the time he is allowed to work.

The bus video's tell the truth, your child must have thrown a punch or she would not have been suspended.

You make is sound as if he isn't working or earning his pay, go talk to him instead of jumping on here attacking him.

I am not saying that kids cant be cruel and very disrespectful. My grandmother was a bus driver and like I said it takes special ppl to drive a bus. What I am saying is that SOME bus drivers do not pay attention to what is happening on their busses. My daughter and several other girls reported these girls to the bus driver and nothing was done, so now it ended in a fight. My daughter never threw a lick against these girls that was beating her, My point is that if the problems are taking care of when they are brought to light then maybe we could cut down on the violence that happens on these busses. IM not putting down bus drivers
I sure hope all this fighting is on the camera. Good luck in getting all this resolved. I really do understand where you are coming from if the driver ignored her cry for help!

FYI the tape was reviewed and she didnot throw a punch, IM not attacking anyone Im just a concerned parent and my complaint was about not being able to talk to him. So how about you mind your own business. This shit has been going on for a while and if he is doing his damn job then how come it was not resolved before it led to a fight where two girls jumped on my daughter. The same girls have been reported numerous times and nothing was done until today when the fight happened and then everyone was suspended.

honey you made it everyone's business when you got on topix.

just like you getting on here shows that people can not be controlled, the more you post the more hostile you get.

and yes you did target him by putting his name on the title of the thread.

He is a human he can't control what a bunch of people choose to do. No more than you can.

Honey, Im not hostile. Im just trying to get the point across that if certain things are handled in a different manner then maybe we could get different and better results. Neil Roberts is the person that we were refered to and the whole point about targeting him was because when you need to talk to him you can't because he is semi retired, normal ppl work after 12.

Bus drivers pay taxes also. With that being said if you do not like the way your tax dollars are being spent get the hell out of coffee county. I am so sick of hearing and reading my poor baby does no wrong. Grow up people stop and think about it this is why they act the way they do because they know mommy and daddy will kiss the butts and defend every little thing they do. When they end up in the Coffee County Jail House who are you gonna blame then? The cops or the whole system?

I agree with this in part. Notice I said..in part. Bottom line, most children who ride county school buses are different people while on those buses. The funny (funny ironic not funny haha) thing about that little truth is that we were all children that age at one point in our lives and road those same county school buses with nameless, faceless, overworked and underpaid bus drivers who caught hell on a daily basis from "mommy's little angels"..installing the camera systems on the buses was one of the best things to ever happen to public school busing - or at least it should have been. The originator of this thread has a valid argument. Albeit her anger may be directed in the wrong place, she still has a valid reason for being upset.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Bus drivers are still nameless, faceless, overworked and underpaid individuals with stressful jobs who have to put up with children who become demons the moment they are out of sight of their parents. This has always been so and will continue to remain so. The problem is, we should be smarter by now. This is after all the 21st century.

Problem children need to be removed from public busing indefinitely until parents can learn to take responsibility for their childrens actions and stop blaming the bus drivers and educational system. On the flip side of that, children who are being verbally or physically intimidated by these bad apples need to stop being ignored. The educational system in this county (everywhere for that matter) needs to take responsibility for these children who really are simply trying to protect themselves or avoid bullies.

Zero tolerance, much like socialism, only works on paper. Punishing children who only seek to protect themselves does nothing except discourage innocent children from coming forth in the first place.... because nothing is done and then it all comes to a head and the innocent are dragged down with the guilty. The system is flawed.

My 11 year old child was scolded by school administrators for exercising her free speech rights and writing a letter to the editor when her pleas and the pleas of younger children went unheard.

Simply calling a guilty child into a principals office and calling a parent and informing them that little Donnie or Angel will not be allowed to ride a bus any more if the behavior continues isn't good enough.

If these children continue to intimidate other children or the bus drivers, don't follow rules, misbehave, spit dip on the floor, curse at bus drivers, etc... get them off the buses. Simple Solution - or at least it should be.

I agree with you 100% why let them back on the bus?? or in school for that matter, kids are fighting bringing drugs and bulling others that proves they are not there to learn and get an education so why even let them be there. it's not fair to the ones who are there to get an education and to make something of themselves one day hopefully people will see that we have to stop catering to these kids and their parents

I have talked to Mr. Roberts Face to face now and some of you are right he is a very fair man. I was not putting him or the coffee co. bus shop down, I was just stating that he could not be reached when I needed to talk to him. The bus shop and Neil Roberts was very helpful! Sorry if there was any misunderstanding but I am very glad that it got resolved.

PSS thanks Buddy
