Stuffed animals are fun. And things like Snuggies. Pictures of family members are nice, they do look at them.possibly magazines with lots of pictures, depends on the level of dementia.

scented lotions, soft blanket or throw, movies, music (older music from their younger days). Oh and as silly as it may seem a stuffed animal (make sure it can be washed). Dont forget a pretty christmas card. Oh and if you have time a christmas carol or two (they may not remember things but usually love music) Just a little time means alot.

Maybe a DVD comprised of old pics, fam pics & home movies? If they have enough memory of such. It may help jog memories, reconginition, idk.... You could set the DVD with Background christmas music playing. Also a small mini tree w/ ornaments of their fav things may be cool too. No matter what, I'm sure whomever you're doing it for will appreciate your time & effort.

Maybe you could post the address and we could all send cards, Cards were always uplifting and brought a smile to my loved ones face.

I always buy a bag of "goodies" for my grandmother. It's a mixture of fun stuff combined with things she needs. Lotion, hand wipes, tissues, emery boards (the flat wooden kind). Books with large print, magnifying glass, stuffed animals, photos of the kids, easy grip pens and pretty stationary.. I also throw in a bouquet of pretty flowers like daises or poinsettias for Christmas. Hope this helps!

Please avoid poinsettia if you visit someone in a nursing home at Christmas. Our church delivered these last year, and to our awful surprise the nursing homes were DECKED OUT with these gorgeous plants everywhere you could look!! If your heart's set on greenery, be sure it's something beautiful for their room that they DON'T see in the general facility...

Avoid poinsettia if there is a pet in the home. The poinsettia can kill pets.

This is not true poinsettia is nontoxic. There are many ornamental plants that people grow around here that will kill you stone dead though. Try fact checking your information before you start trying to sound like you know something, your spreading bad information. You should probably fact check the rest of the stuff you "think" you know.
