Tired of the high bills with data caps with Verizon and wondering what anyone with Straight Talk thinks. The coverage area has a large white spot that looks just to the north of us...but I know coverage maps can be sketchy. I appreciate any feedback.

In my 2nd month of straight talk LOVE IT! No surprises at the end of the month. The phone is not as advanced as I am use to but the bill isn't either. The service is as good as Verizon which is wht I had before.

If you don't mind my asking, which phone do you have. I'm looking at either the Nokia E71 or Nokia E5 smartphones. Wish they had the droid as an option but like you said...lower prices = less options.

Also, not sure why it says i'm in Nashville. Douglas here.

I have had straight talk 1 year, would not trade it for anything else, it has Verizon service, you can talk to anyone as long as you want.

I love my straight talk phone...had it 2 months and have found maybe a handful of dead spots but the service is great !!! You can set it up so that the 45 comes out of your account every month so you don't have to worry about going to purchase a card

Straight talk is wonderful. Just make sure you buy one from the store here in Douglas. My daughter bought one online and it did work in 31533 but it wouldn't work in the county. Make sure the carrier is not AT &T. That was the problem I believe. Good luck!(Something to do with the color of the map on the box.)

BTW--Verizon is the carrier for our area.

Straight Talk has 2 different networks...CDMA/Verizon and GSM/Cingular.....I have a CDMA phone and have awesome service. The Nokia E7 & E5, I believe, are GSM. Just look at the Straight Talk website for information, though most of the phones have a G or C after them indicating. The CDMA offers the best maps in this area because Cingular/GSM hasn't finished updating its towers in the rural south. I like my straight talk. I've had it about 2 years now and haven't had any issues. I've had service where others don't. I also had a Verizon guy tell me that those prepay plans are for people that can't afford a real phone and prepay doesn't get network priority...HAHAHA! MIne works and now so do my parents since they switched. Their phones are as snazzy as Verizon and Cingular but I don't have $15-$20 of extra fees added on to my bill. The difference of bills is enough to pay for gas or part of my electricity!

Cell phones are wonderful inventions but people treat them like they are necessary. In fact they are not and people should pay other bills before their cellphone wants. The county is going into the shitter and we are all to blame. The county comission sucks ass. The BOE sucks ass. The only way to turn it around is for everyone to hold themselves to a higher standard and let the trash fall to the side and put themselves in the landfill where they belong. My vote next time will be for less bs and for more action.

Dear Gussy take to another thread.
This is actually a good threat and very informative. Straight Talk is obviously a good phone plan it cost half what a phone on Verizon cost with the same features. If someone is considering a switch to save money I think they are already aware of the crappy economy we are in.

Parent is right. Straight Talk is a basic, good cellular service. I doesn't have fancy phones with the best in web browser service, so for those that need to be able to check their email or what not several times a day, then..try one of a friends and see how you like it. Otherwise, keep shelling out the $80+ for one line of data plan for 400ish minutes. I don't use my browser for much, just talk and text. Even at that, the $30 plan is way, way cheaper and reliable than the others. 1000 plus text, isn't any cheaper anywhere else. I've looked into trackfone, but your minutes are minutes for phone, text, and data. In the end, I just make too many calls to deal with that. I would love to have my cell as my home phone, but I live too far out to have cable internet. Different people have different goals with their $$$. I don't agree with some of them, but others don't agree with mine. I don't have tv service, but Netflix instead and watch most of the nightly shows I care for on the internet from those networks. Even after Netflix raises my price next month, it is still cheaper than tv period.e
