wish everyone would refrain from the name calling and bashing and just report facts and actual events

based on the rumors and what I have heard, all will probably be dismissed but the sad thing is that all the names involved will be drug through the mud

That would be great,but in the real world of Atkinson,Shea is like a snappn' turtle,once he latches on to something he don't turn loose till lightening strikes,even when he is dead wrong,he just can't see the forest for T's,& KP's,A'sses!

The mere fact that the defenders of the elected official that issued a death threat against a citizen have resorted to name calling and mud slinging speaks volumes. Any person that thinks it is acceptable to make public statements calling a person a queer is obviously not competent nor are their opinions trustworthy. Some of these comments are beyond childish. Regardless whether you like Shea or not, the fact remains, the commissioner broke the law in an egregious manner. He should be held accountable and removed from his elected position at least until an investigation by a responsible agency is completed. A death threat is a very serious matter and is never a justified action. That.Is.Why.It.Is.Illegal. What part of that do you people not understand? Do a little research on death threats and the punishment for issuing a death threat. It's serious. Furthermore, if a person feels comfortable enough to make a death threat in front of a witness, he probably feels he is above the law and would likely attempt to carry the threat out. Isn't there a competent, law abiding individual sitting in any position of power in that county that realizes this? The man is obviously a loose cannon and his friends that are on here posting inflammatory comments are just fueling his fire. When something bad happens, every one of you that has fed the fire can hold yourself partially responsible.

I don't care if Shea walks the city streets in fishnets holding a sign that says "Yes! I am Gay!". There is no justification for happened. The issue here is not a persons sexual orientation it is a death threat. I doubt seriously that Shea is "queer" but even if he were, what the hell would it matter? You people need to grow up.

That fiasco of a health department is enough to demonstrate the idiocy of the community leaders. If you think there are not problems in Atco that have nothing to do with Shea then you are part of the problem. Wake up people. Your community is going to hell in a handbasket. The only reason you may have to be angry with Shea is if his comments are hitting too close to home for your own comfort. Despite your childish attempts to disparage Shea, the truth of what is going on in Atco is glaringly obvious to any sane adult. Your childish comments are just driving the point home.

I think this guy threatening to kill him in a public office is something he (and we all) should give a damn about. The point is not whether Shea cares or not about the childish comments. That is irrelevant. The point is that is indicative of the character and mindset of the people involved. Even your comments feed the fire, albeit in a somewhat milder manner.

I disagree that the comments here will have any effect in a court room. No one should even care about the politics of the situation or the childish online reactions. That is inconsequential to the bigger issue which is quite simple.

A death threat was issued by one person to another, in front of a witness.

It matters not who the two people are. It is illegal, poses potential danger to the person threatened and lawful action is the only justifiable approach. The local law enforcement and judicial personnel charged with handling this situation are negligent for having ignored it this long. If something should happen to Shea or his family, every person that has refused to take action thus far can be held legally responsible and will be because it would become a matter handled outside of the confines of the good ole boy network of Atco. It should not be allowed to escalate until someone gets hurt. There are consequences for actions and it is past time for those consequences to be set forth.

Atkinson County Commissioner arrested on terroristic threats

PEARSON, GA -
An Atkinson County Commissioner is charged with threatening the board of elections chairman.

Commissioner Dwain McClellan was arrested last Tuesday, accused of threatening to kill Pearson attorney Shea Browning. And this whole fight may have been fueled by an on line message board.

Shea Browning says he was minding his own business at the board of elections office when McClellan approached him. Words were exchanged and he says McClellan threatened his life.

Shea Browning says Commissioner Dwain McClellan has harassed him for years.

"I literally do all I can to avoid him but he finds me," says Shea Browning\Atkinson County Board of Elections Chairman.

Browning says the harassment started in 2004, when he represented someone McClellan did not like. But McClellan's campaign manager says the problem started with a web site that Browning administers.

"It all kind of started with ATCO Chatter and there is a lot of gossip on there that is not true and Shea started ATCO Chatter," says Debbie Brantley\Dwain McClellan's Campaign Manager.

Browning says on Friday, June 22nd, McClellan showed up at the elections office requesting records. But when Browning told him he had to file an opens record request, he says McClellan became irate.

"He just literally comes right up in my face, it is usually a finger, but this time it was just a whole different ball game, I could just see it, he just looked different," says Browning.

Browning says Commissioner McClellan was with his adult son at the time and they both threatened him.

"Physically threatened, that if I didn't stop talking about him on the Internet,'I would not live to regret it,' was the phrase he used," says Browning.

Browning called the police and McClellan was taken to the Pearson Police station for questioning and was released. But four days later, McClellan was arrested and charged with Felony Terroristic Threats.

Browning says he filed a temporary stalking protective orders against the McClellan and his son, but the Superior Court judges in the Alapaha Judicial Circuit did not sign them and recused themselves from hearing the petitions at all.

"I firmly believe it is because of who is involved, he is an elected officials, he has been in office for ten years, he is running again this year," says Browning.

Browning says McClellan's reelection is up to the voters, he just wants the harassment and intimidation to stop.

We tried to contact Dwain McClellan but his attorney advised him not to comment on the story. As apart of his bond conditions, Commissioner McClellan cannot go near Browning. Browning is waiting for a hearing date for his two restraining orders.

Shea told on himself in his interview with WALB. He stated "I literally do all I can to avoid him but he finds me," says Shea Browning\Atkinson County Board of Elections Chairman". If you are talking trash about a person and there family on your website(chatter)and FaceBook everyday time after time...
