Wonder if anyone can tell me where to get help with this issue, my daughter goes to cms, this pass February she and about 12 other kids were getting threatening text messages from a land line so after talking with the sherrif dept and gbi they tell me the nothing can be done until they find out from apple who bought the product. Apple had 6 wks to answer the sipena, but haven't and our local gbi says he has turned this over to Atlanta to handle. Now just to let you know these messages my child received threaten to stab to death other kids, made a death list, listing them in order of death, etc., I also forward to our new superintendant the 100 text my daughter got to his cell phone didnt call me so I called him, he said the sheriff dept was handling it then I call our principal at cms for her to tell me that this wasn't a school issue, so she was telling me the safety of my child wasn't a priority to her, the sherrif dept tells me they are waiting on the gbi and the gbi tells me its the sherrif depts cases there just trying to see if they can find out who purchased the product, now the gbi took one phone I know and got 400 text messages off of it but the sherrif dept tells me they have nothing to go on to pursue this investigation. I have no faith in our law enforcement and surely don't have a vote for pope, or my 2 18 yr old daughter, my husband and all of my friends want be voting for him either

I like how this went from some garbled "oh no my child's in danger" to "DON'T VOTE FOR POPE."

This is a very frightening situation if this is so. But based on your post it seems you are just as confused as you state the law enforcement is. I am sure Pope is doing what he can do. He wouldn't take a situation like this lightly. I am not saying your not being factual but you are very confusing with your post. It's sad that kids these days even think thoughts like that. People have got to start teaching and training these kids at home. The problem is they let them "go" and when they can't handle them they blame the law enforcement. Maybe you need to pray about this. GOD can do something about it.

You could block this number from her phone.

Or, you can change her number and tell her to give it only to her friends.

Whoever would allow 400 threatening calls to come to their kid's phone without blocking the number, or getting a new number????????? I hope they have an unlimited data plan! Those parents should have taken their own action and not waited around for law enforcement or the school system to solve the problem for them!!!!

Since the texts were sent from a landline, it must have been done from a computer. I am not sure our local sheriff's office is prepeared to deal with those sorts of cyber crimes....no matter who the sheriff is!

If the case was turned over to "Atlanta" by the GBI, then you should blame them for not taking action, rather than blaming our sheriff's office.

The school system is not responsible for working out this situation, especially since kids are not even allowed to have their cell phones at school.

Hope you get this problem resolved.

there is an fbi office in dublin i believe. i would be calling the governor, the FBI in atlanta and any where else that would answer a phone.

This topic sounds a bit far fetched. However, even taking it at face value, you lost credibility when you posted about not voting for Pope, even after you say it was turned over to the GBI.

If this happened in February, why wait until June to make a post on the subject? Maybe I missed it from being posted back then or don't remember hearing about at the moment, not sure. People have family, friends, and the whole nine at CMS. I took the time to read this, but was very disappointed when you threw "don't have a vote for Pope" into the mix. If someone is not doing their job, there are numbers available to seek more information and help. What does having/not having a vote for Pope have anything to do with this? People these days! Anything is possible... Watch the news. You're worrying about a vote when kids are involved. Hope the situation is handled quickly before school starts back.

I understand where the parent is coming from. It is an election year and the people running should be bending over backwards to make their constituents happy. Pope has gotten comfy. VOTE NO INCUMBENT. Looks like that doesn't just go for the school board. We literally might need a new sheriff in town.

(Excuse the vulgarity but...) I call bullshit.

1) Lan lines are traceable by any nerd with cable or networking equipment. The police department could certainly do so.

2) It is not the local police department or the FBI's responsibility to monitor the crap your kids do, that's your job.

3) If your child received ONE threatening text message or phone call then you should have reported it. Period.

4) No sane person allows their child to be threatened via cell phone multiple times. You could have confiscated the phone, shut it off, called the cell company and had the number changed..etc etc (insert a plethora of other options available to you here.

5)As a parent of a child with a cell phone, it is your responsibility to know who your child is talking, texting, or emailing.

6) The police department have to investigate when allegations of unlawful activity are made. If they followed the investigative trail as far as it would lead and didn't come up with anything - then perhaps you could talk to your child and help them get something to go on.

7)Your political propaganda disguised as a my poor poor baby tale is just.. well.. lame.

I don't care who you vote for. Posting idiotic tales of woe and falsehoods about political candidates only manages to make you and your candidate look like an idiot, sadly for them.

People this really hqappened right here in Coffee
County. This has been posted about before and
many poeple know about this cyber threat. It will
not get swept under the rug. These parents and
grandparents will not let this happen. They have
begged and begged for Pope and GBI and CMS to solve
this threat. I believe that any time precious
children's lives are threatened and a hate crime
could occur within any school system, that the
proper authorities be notified. It is there responsibility
to put an end to these threats. I know for a fact, that
these parents will and can press charges.

It may be the schools responsiblilty to LEGALLY handle this but as I've posted many times before to LEGALLY follow the trail on the internet/phone is nearly impossible IF the carrier does not want to. The laws of our country does not supersede the laws of another which could very well be where the "home office" is.

As for waiting til niow,my child would have been outa there after the first text,to many people are nuts today.

Seems like I remember there being "a list" this past year. The problem is, nobody is ever clear on who is supposed to handle what. Is it the school's place because they are students? Is it the city police? Is it the county police? Should the parents just duke it out? Nobody ever knows what do do about these bullies and they never get punished in the end. Everyone just wants it to go away on it's own and nobody does anything in the meantime.

These kinds of "reports" happen about once each year. I agree with the previous post that pointed out that this looks like it is coming from someone with a political agenda. This just confirms for me that I do not want to be influenced to vote for a candidate that stoops to this.

Well then, by all means, vote for one who covers things up himself and hides behind his brother's church. Ummmm, okay?

When children are involved, political agenda or not, it must be treated as serious until the truth is revealed.

don't know what happened with the investigation but this did happen. The last i heard is that they had the child and she was having a difficult home life also. I work at the middle school. But, Just because you take your child's phone doesn't stop your child from being threatened either does it? You just don't know about it and are oblivious that your child's name is on a kill list until they are dead... JMO
