A.M. got job at M.S. where his mother is an employee. Did Mom have something to do with him getting the job? Is he qualified?

Seems as though there is lots of favoritism going on. Does anyone else see this happening?

He is definitely qualified for the job. He already worked there as a teacher, and just completed his leadership degree. Any more questions?

On his side...he was a great social studies teacher without his mother holding his hand or any kind of other support...You do have a point about favoritism in the hiring/interviewing process, but that is everywhere. AM deserved the job, but there are other positions that are hired before they county posts them as open, this too is a common practice in most all places.

He was already slated to get the position, especially when it was pointed out that there were no male admins at CMS.

However, if you aren't born and raised here and have kin in the system, you can forget moving up within the system. CCBOE only wants there own. So I guess the CCBOE system lacks any forks in the tree--like many family trees around here!

Favoritism & pre-selection prior to interviews is not common practice "everywhere". Again, you small town folks think that by everyone knowing everyone, it's OK to bend the rules. It may be "common", but unethical. Jobs should be posted as internal positions or positions open to qualified applicants. There is a proper, fair interview process and it should be followed by the BOE. Anything less than that, should be grounds for termination.

It has been stated that the interviews for the job were conducted before the position was announced internally or externally and that the only ones who knew about the position were friends with the new principal. The question is not whether he is qualified or not. The question is about the process. Amazing what a BBQ or 2 can get you. Manipulating the system!

Leave Abe alone. He is a great person and will be a great administrator. Regardless of where he was born, where he was raised or where he went to school he would get a job in any system at any time. Be thankful of a quality young man stepping up to the plate to tackle a job like middle school discipline! Do not talk about a person until you walk a mile in his shoes!!!

I saw his pic and qualifications for being a teacher in the Coffee County Magazine. Didn't go into teaching until he did the "one year" program. It's all a sham. He doesn't have leadership certification. He's only a T5, which means he has a master's but hasn't had leadership and has only had a certificate for 4 years. 4 years an administrator doesn't make--only in Coffee County.

He is on the fast track without having extensive experience in the classroom. Another Coffee County flaw.

No matter the kind of person he is, he is getting his chance because of who his mother is, not his qualifications.

Just like the new admin at CHS. His uncle is chairman of the BOE and he doesn't have a leadership degree.

You can go back through the CCBOE Vacancy postings over the past month and clearly see that this job was posted. AM and other people interviewed for the job. They all had an interview with 5 people on the panel.

AM is a great man and a great figure to these students. He is a real "go getter," and I have a feeling he will show many of you the quality of a man he is. He has his master's degree in Middle School Education and his specialist in leadership. Now unless you have that type of education, I would sit back and watch a man who will handle discipline in a new way on the 8th grade wing.

It's sad that people assume things before learning the facts. Welcome to Coffee County!

CHS is in deep crap. BC's nephew is a poor excuse for an administrator. He has never stuck with anything and was released from Ag Ed in Tifton for stepping out of bounds by being too political. Watch out GT or you will be wishing you had said no to that move regardless what uncle says! Lesure would have been a better choice but maybe she will be available to pick up the pieces when this doomed experiment is over.

I don't think many people are on here attacking him. Most are pointing out the networking and favortism that obviously exist in Coffee Schools.

My question is why weren't any of the recent administrative jobs opened for applicants before interviews? What's wrong with opening the jobs up for qualified applicants from all over? You and I both know the answer.... Nothing, unless you want to make sure that new people and new ideas don't come in here and mess up the good old boy system.

Better make sure the "panel" members and all the applicants stick to that story also. Some are not on the same page.

I dont know any of the applicants. I work elsewhere & we do follow proper interview process. JMHO. Didn't mean to judge this person in particular. Again, dont know the people- just responding to complaints about favoritism and job postings.

you all talk about the CCBOE being childish. Everything on here is childish. Santa claus could not please everyone. It's just like a church part like the preacher and part don't. As a tax paying citizen, why don't all of you attempt to work together so the schools can improve? All the moaning and finger pointing in the wold only causes more confusion.Maybe the taxpayer would feel better about their tax money IF everyone would try to do better. I don't know the new super but for heavens sake give him a chance.

It's evident you've not read this forum. You are lost. You should re-read each post & tell us how many of us are not willing to give the new super a chance. You are confused.

Dr. Leis is going to be our Supt and I totally support him. We have to "give him the rope" to do his job.

I know we will not all agree...but let's all unite and give him a chance to come in and make some "hard decisions"...

WIll AM be in charge of teaching eigth graders
safe sex? That did not work so well for
him several years ago did it? Glad he is
considered so responsible and such a great
influence. He was not being responsible and
did not marry the girl back then. Where
was his character then? Parents beware!
