Well I'm gonna attempt to share with the folks of Coffee county a real problem with our community and Sheriff's office. That problem would be Sgt. Rodney Courson and Chris Perkins. While attempting to share some information on Coffee-watchdog people seem to come to the defense of Rodney. I have since found out that the "taser" incident where the man got paralyzed, Rodney was one of the officers present, I'm willing to bet money that Rodney was the triggerman on that taser. When will Pope figure out that Rodney is a lawsuit waiting to happen. He shoves people into ditches, slams people, and now appearantly shoots folks out of trees with a taser.
Rodney and C Perkins walk around the Sheriff's office and take pride that other depituies call them the midnight mafia. That's not a comment Rodney, you psycho, they are trying to tell you that you have lost it! New day dawning for you too. You won't be there much longer!

if you will read the paper you will know that a k9 deputy deployed the taser. chris' brother tony is answering questions on another forum......why dont you go and ask him a question or two? you need to read his opening statement though cause he will not respond to certain things.

WALB NEWS STATED.....
Coffee County -- Coffee County deputies were called on a domestic dispute at 358 Loblolly Avenue a little after 10:30 PM on Memorial Day.

"We sent three deputies out there. He had shot the house up, shot at his wife supposedly, and she went over to her neighbor's house," said Coffee County Sheriff Jerry Pope.

The woman told deputies that 37-year-old Joseph Steven Harper had been drinking all day and was taking Methadone. She told deputies that he got angry and starting hitting her.

That's when his nephew tried to stop him and called police. "He had held him at gunpoint and shot over his head three times. That's when he slipped away and called 911. Harper heard him and slipped out the back door," said Pope.

Two Ware county canine units and the three Coffee county deputies found Harper up a tree about five feet off the ground. "He had a loaded weapon with him, and he wouldn't respond. He just stood there and looked at us."

"And the officers had firearms and tasers on him. So we took the less lethal way and shot a taser at him. We couldn't take a chance because the last time in '01 a guy in Coffee county had run into the woods and killed two law officers," said Pope.

That's when Harper fell on his head from the tree, and told officers he couldn't feel his legs. Harper was transported to Coffee Regional and was later transported to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah.

Family members told us that doctors don't think he will ever walk again. But the Coffee County sheriff still stands behind the decision to taser him.

"I am really sorry, but when you go out there, you want to make sure that your men come home. And for public safety, we couldn't afford to lose him; he'd already shot his house up and shot at his neighbor," said Pope.

Charges against Harper are still pending. Harper is charged with aggravated assault, obstruction of a law enforcement agency, and discharging a firearm while intoxicated.

Sorry but if someone shot over my head three times I would call 911 too. The officers chose a taser instead of a gun. To me that sounds like a better deal. If the gun was chosen something worse could have happened.

What I read stated that a K9 Officer from Ware County attempted to shoot the guy with the taser but missed, then a Coffee County Deputy pulled out his taser and used it! Before you jump to correct someone you might want to get your story straight!

I agree Gator. Everything happens for a reason. The guy was strung out, trying to kill the ones who loved him most. My heart aches at the thought of him being paralyzed and I knew sooner or later something was going to be said about this, but maybe now he will sober up and will live a life better than what he had. Who knows maybe the quality of life will only improve now that this has happened. I'm just trying to look at it in an optimistic manner. It is a tragedy.
I don't think an injustice happened though. I sure didn't want any deputy's killed. Looks like they did the only thing they could. I know they wouldn't have wanted this either. They have to live with this for the rest of their lives. All the what ifs or could have beens.

So what if you are right. Lets not nick pick this thing. This was a tragedy. Apparently though, it wasn't just our guys who thought he needed to be tased. The guy had a loaded rifle!

Why are you getting offended if someone corrects something that is not being told right? That statement was not directed at you unless you are only time will tell? If it's going to be posted, then it should be as close to correct as possible. I think you are being very defensive for no reason!

well i feel like if maybe they had back up and put their selfs in a safe place, give it a little time, the condition the man was in he probably
would have give up or fell out of the tree on his own.it stould to reason if tazered he was going to fall, get hurt or killed.after a peorid of time
if he didn't give up then then do something different.he could not have stayed up the tree all nite. i appreciate good law enforcement, but they are suppose to have good common sence.

Sugarkane...time and time again you have proven that you have absolutely no clue about law enforcement or Georgia law in general...the man is lucky he isn't dead, and if the CCSO had not had TASER's, that probably would have been the case. What would you have done, in the middle of the night, facing a loaded rifle?

Well well...you have made numerous accusations regarding the current administration, including specific employees,...most of which are false or rumors or, at the most, half-truths...you obviously have something personal against the current administration. Additionally, you apparently have a little of what you believe to be "inside information." What's your stake in this game? Just curious...

When an officer of the law tells you to put your gun down it needs to happen, not later. Officers do not know what is going through people's minds, when they have been shooting up their houses and at family you have to assume the worst of a person.
I would have shot him.

what about the money that pope has brought to this county since being elected. check it out yourself on his website. he has allowed his deputies to actually WORK so that the county will prosper and possibly not have higher taxes, but when you make rude comments about the ccso not being clean....you are talking about the whole department, which includes the deputies. apparently you dont know how it all works like you claim you do. you know how the old saying goes " if you cant say anything nice then dont say it at all". i have read most of your posts and in just about 90% of them is negative comments about the ccso. they are doing the best job that has ever been done......statistically speaking.
