Using someone else's CPAP is pretty disgusting. Did you give them your used toothbrush, too?

I am proud that this person was so thoughtful that they gave their CPAP to a person that could not afford one. These machines are very hard to get used to. A brand new machine and accessories is easy over 1500.00. You can get a used one for 500.00.

Sleep Apnea is right...Thank you for being generous with such an awesome piece of equipment. The mask is the only part that comes in contact with the face, so they can purchase a new mask that fits their face for around $50 depending upon the mask and supply company.

If insurance paid for it, it is yours. You aren't leasing it, so you do have the right to sell it if you no longer need it, just like wheel chairs, shower/tub chairs and walkers, also expensive items. Items that are leased like oxygen tanks are different.

Your breath comes into contact with every internal component of a CPAP, especially during the ramping up period before it reaches the prescribed pressure. It is extremely unsanitary to use another person's equipment.

That depends on the type of C Pap you have. A C Pap provides constant air flow into your face, therefore no back flow. Some C Paps reduce the air flow into your face when you exhale but again, it is continuously flowing into your nasal passages. This is part of the problem for many people that can't breathe against the force of air. The air is pumped either from inside the room or room air along with oxygen.

Oh yeah....Medicare and medicaid along with many insurance companies make catheter users reuse their own catheters. Hospitals sanitize them and reuse them all the time. Now imagine where that has been and who it has been on.

What is your problem? Always got to see the glass as half empty? Geesh! The one good thing this forum could be used for -swamp and shop- and people like you have got to throw dirt on that. So much negativity!
