OK- I had the first "Weahter" issue with my dish.
LAst evening while watching the Olympic opening Ceromonies, it went off. Then a message came on that said "no need to call, we are working on it" - well I could only let that go for a little while as I checked my e-mail. Then called. Technical assisitance , after giving my phone numer, cam on and said" you are experienceing snow in your area- if your dish can be reached, genly brush it off"- well, I went out and did that and by the time I got back in it was coming back on. So... it may happen again- in 20 years or so!!

DOUGLAS GAL"]I have the problem with Channel 4 and Channel 10 freezing randomly and the problem is actually how those channels send Charter the signal. A while back a helicopter hit a tower in Doerun, Ga (you may remember the crash) and at that point we didn't have WALB at all. one they started sending it digitally we were able to see it again, but sending it digitally causes the random freezes. Techically it's not Charter's fault, it's just one of those things we can't control. Charter has to recieve their signal the way the station sends it....if that makes sense.
This is basically the same thing Charter told me, yea it makes sense.

No need for plexiglass- it shouldn't snow for another 20 years- and by then my dish and I will be in Southern Fl. where it may never snow. :)

The latest thing with my Charter problem is that on Feb. 9, I got another bill for $259. That makes 3 bills in 3 and a half weeks. I have called and faxed them several times and still don't have an answer to what is going on. They also changed my phone number and did not tell me.

I live in Holland Township Michigan, and I'm sick and tired of the ION channel freezing up and last night TBS froze up and I have an hour and fifteen minutes of the same video frame. I never had this "freezing" problem until tv switch from analog to digital. I tried digital box and got nothing for channels and had to go back to cable.
My boyfriend recently went to DishTV and he's had outages as well; so I don't feel going to dish is any better.
I found on Charter's website that you have to call to submit/register a complaint, which I plan to do.

We can all thank the FCC for making tv stations go to digital. A family I know who lives in Saugatuck (MI) gets only one channel on digital; they'd have to erect a 40-foot antenna if they want more and there's no guarantee that would work.

I think digital tv stinks; its a failure; signal is lost all the time.

Kill your television. Just get rid of your cable all together. Most shows are shown on the internet now anyway, why pay double for the same access?

Had tons of issues with charter, eventually I just canceled all my services with them and just got DSL for phone and internet. Have been happy ever since.

Canceling charter was worse than breaking up with a psycho ex.

Cable Channel 4 is still freezing after six months and countless promises that problem has been fixed. Wondering if this is just a city limits problem. for those who have dish systems or digital, does it freeze for you too?
In Birmingham,Al I am having a similiar problem with Hallmark Channel 161. It was moved from Channel 57 (Basic) to 161 (Expanded Basic-Digital) so we leased a Digital Receiver box from Charter. For the past several months, we get the error S0600 "Channel will be available shortly". Now we have started getting the "freeze frame" problem. I have swapped for a new Digital Receiver box. They have said it was a"network" problem and are working on it. I am going today to swap to a third Digital Receiver.
There may be other channels with this problem, but the only one we record and watch is Hallmark. We never had a problem when it was on Channel 57.
Thanks.

Some od my family has charter and when im over at their house alot of the local stations freeze up or play the same commercials 10 times back to back..and its pretty pricy for basic channels...i have had direct tv and now have dish...direct tv was ok but aftee the two year contract is up they charged us 150 and thats way too much..when they had the problem with loosing some channels i called and asked for a lower price on my bill since i was paying for channels we no longer had but they wpuldnt do anything..and the signal would go out even if it were sprinkling outside so we switched to dish and havent had any problems not even in bad weather...with dish i may not have as many channels oe be able to record morw than one thing but im saving 100 dollars a month

Since we HAD to go digital, the picture will either freeze or is all jumbo or we change station, the bottom of t.v. shows new station, the sound is playing previous station and the screen is blank! Nothing but issues since going digital...

Direct TV does have local channels.. they cost from 1.25 to 6.00 dollars per month depending upon your package. All are in h.d. That may be why you cannot get them ... Need a flat screen.

Charter salesman stopped by the house,, guess he saw the dish network on roof. He told me about how great charter is and gonna be, charter is replacing all the cable lines up and down the road with fiber optic lines and the speed and signal will be incredibly fast and clear. I was like wow charter is really coming around, He also told me all new people working at local charter business. So I decided to change from dish to charter. When the installer technician was all done hooking me up, we were shooting the shit, and I asked about the fiber optic lines going up, he said they upgraded these a couple years back, nothing else is gonna change around here. That f*&king salesman scammed me
