How many Marshall County Sheriffs does it take to screw in a light bulb? Well it looks like more if you need the help of the FBI. This case is embarrassing isn't it? How many years did it take to ID this poor young woman? How many people have been missing in this area that it took them that long? Let's see, didn't they find a skull near by and "think" it might be Wanda's some time ago? Really, is anyone paying attention to this? If I was in Sheriff Wall's seat I wouldn't be "pleased" to announce Jack, I would just say our thoughts and prayers are with the family since our department has apparently dropped the ball on this for over 2 decades with the help of the feds. By the way, who has the physicial evidence in this case, by the way???? Anyone remember that in the sheriff's office??? Can anyone find it? Or is it misplaced somewhere?? Yeah, this might be fun. Does any investigative reporter read this page? What if someone you loved disappeared today. Would this kind of screw up happen today? 22 years from now would we be ID's bones for your loved one in this manner in Marshall County? Think about it. "Pleased". Right.

My favorite part is how they are sure it was not foul play, when they don't even have the entirel skeleton.

Has anyone tied the time line together. She worked for the Redstone Arsenal. The department where she worked was in the middle of shipping out missiles that were known to be those shipped during the Iran/Contra affair.
If you think it is far fetched to think your government could not be involved in the disappearance of this woman I would then suggest you access the following web site.

I agree! What? They can rule foul play out after 22 years and little evidence. Sounds like someone is covering up ...

As far as I am concerned it is still unsolved. There is no way they can say she fell off a cliff and wild animals drug off the remaining skeleton with any degree of accuracy. If an animal was dragging bones around..... could it have drug the ones to the bottom of the cliff? How about the man who was very much obsessed with her beginning when she was a young teen. He was 15 or so years older. Do any autorities care that he was known for irrational behavior and mind games. The military thing is not at all probable.

Speaking of Wanda Mays-Go back and read Who shot Dale Gilliland post Wanda Mays is mentioned. I hope Sheriff Walls will reinvestigate this case from the beginning.

Albertville Soccer mom, I did not mean to link this case and the Dale Gilliland case. I simply meant that it took the local officials 25 years to find Wanda and her case had a lot more clues and was more cut and dry than the Gilliland case.

Just saw this on Unsolved Mysteries. I was dumbfounded at the end! Solved! No foul play?? Did they forget about the broken window in her room? The blood in the canoe? The bloodied shirt? What's the forensic difference between pushed or fall?

Please don't be naive enough to believe the hype, sensationalism and bs that goes into these tv shows. There was far more information and facts leading up to the condition and the disappearance of this woman than the news was told to protect the person and her family so the producers had to tweek the story a bit for effect. The family is at rest with the findings so people who like to dwell on "what if" can continue to dream.

I know that with any criminal case, not all the information will be disclosed. It's been 30 years this month. Though I would love to know that Wanda was on a beach somewhere collecting sand dollars and sea shells, I face the reality that she is gone from this earth. I know that when standing in the midst of something it is difficult to see everything. There seems to be a tunnel of focus on the night Wanda left. Perhaps one day, someone will have the time and the inclination to get to know Wanda and who she was for her short time on earth. It would be wonderful if someone asked questions like; "Who was the much older married man that Wanda was secretly involved with for about 10 years? Who was this man, who began a predatory fixation on Wanda when she was just a young girl? How often did she do whatever he told her to do? To what extent did he control and manipulate her? To what edge did he push her towards?" Anxiety does lead to odd behavior. But, what led to the anxiety? I don't recall anyone ever mentioning a man who would follow her and her friends, a man who dictated her actions for many years, a man whom she tried to keep secret. Nothing is ever a complete secret. There are those who know the answers to these questions. This information can not hurt her family at this time. It doesn't dishonor Wanda. It does however give a hint to an explanation, maybe even the truth.
