Police: At least 10 dead in Alabama shooting spree

A gunman shot and killed at least eight people in a small town in southeastern Alabama and one more on the road before he was killed, police said.

it is obvious that gun laws won't stop crime but that is not a sound argument against it. if this man were not given easy access to a gun, he would not have been able to kill ten people in the time or fashion that he did. he would have had to felt more passion to kill someone with his two hands- would he still have committed these crimes if guns had not made it so easy and tempting? no one will ever know. plus, if he had not been using firearms, it would have taken longer, giving people more time to stop him and also giving people more of a self-defense in that there is more time and effort involved in killing anyone without a firearm. ten people would have stood a chance against one if it were not for the NRA and the United State's fear of changing the second amendment.

You should be proud of Chief Lindsey and Officer Rick Morgan. They tried - Samson police did nothing. Thank GOD for Geneva Police Department, Alabama Highway Patrol, Geneva County Sheriff's Department and Bruce MaLoy. Bruce is the hero. Samson mayor was hiding somewhere and is still hiding. The question "where was the Samson police department and the mayor" still stands. The chief of police and the mayor refuses to disclose or talk about March 10. Not surprising since the mayor uses knives to stab people (Defuniak Springs 2008) and the chief is not a certified police officer. If the samson pd had responded to the first call, maybe three lives,(James, Sonya and Bruce)would have been saved. It took the shooter 13 minutes before he shot James. Bruce MaLoy should not have had to chase McClendon the police should have. The chief and asst chief both stated on the eve of March 10 the 1st 2 calls were not taken serious because usually it is fire crackers or someone practice shooting. Bravo to GENEVA PD, AL SHERIFF'S DEPT, AL STATE PATROL.

Additionally, McClendon was initially out to get the Samson mayor and council. Why? Now the mayor and council are moving their meeting place to the old armory - why? Do they think no one will be able to enter the armory and shoot? Will Barney Fife (samson dispatcher) be their body guard? Why does the chief of police allow the mayor to tell him how he runs the police department? Why does the chief and asst chief wear civilian clothes? Ofcs Parker, Baxley and Smith are ok - might even be better if allowed to do their jobs.
