I have followed the case since first seeing it on Haunting Evidence. I wondered what the status of the investigation is now? Any new leads? Suspects? DNA or fiber evidence?

Such a troubling story.

Yea, the law tried to pin it on a guy who "didn't have all his faculties". You would think there would be some evidence somewhere. I hope they get the killer but I'm not holding my breath.

I hope they find the killer and get him off the street and bring justice for these lives ended too soon.

It was my understanding that the young man who was suspected of murdering these young girls commited suicide. Most of the facts and suspitions have been...buried, for lack of a better word, by the investigators involved.

I hate to hear that. I know sometimes le have their reasons for withholding information that could hinder the investigation. Has the DNA been archived in the national database CODIS? That way if the killer ever strikes again, and leaves his DNA it can be matched.

Has the ER doctor guilty of abusing young female patients been cleared in this case?

Why, other than his suicide, is this individual suspected of killing these girls? Did he even know the girls?

Brantley Stegall left a suicide note admitting he could no longer stand the guilt of killing the girls. The note now officially never existed. TIFIW.

That is quite strange. Who "done away" with the alleged note? Are there any other reasons this young man would have killed himself?

I would like to know who killed these two girls as well. Tracie Hawlett is my cousin and her dad was my uncle. Tracie's dad was a police officer at Dothan, Alabama. His name was Robert (Bob) Hawlett. He was also died back in 1987.

Stegall was a judge... not the Sherriff. So he was a judge's son.

Bumping for justice for J.B. and Tracie and their families! Hoping J.B. and Tracie's families don't have to go another year without knowing who took the lives of these precious young women!

He died of a accidental drug over dose, he was a known drug addict. And the note was suppose to have been sent to the victims family. Just another way for OPD to "solve the case" Dead men cant defend themselves know what I mean.
