All those assualts on public works (which used to be called the maintenance department until Brian changed it - its actual duty) are just another veiled attempt to transfer money from a high budget department to the PD. This is the primary ojective of the detractors to get more money as usual for the budget pigs. Let's shut down the entire city and save the PD sitting on the park site. Yeah! At no time has the city had a truly operational public works which builds and maintains infrastructue. Guess why, because the city doesn't own or maintain any infrastructure despite getting federal loans to do so. Particularly, the city doesn't own and maintain any roads. You can't blaim the staff for the council having given away the farm to the County. The individual salaries of these employees are very low but their output is large given the miles of lawns and other unnecessary items the city has chosen to maintain. People foget all the citizen ass whiping these guys do from mowing your subdivision islands to picking up the junk you leave all over the curb. While you sit in the air eating your chocolates these guys work in the hot sun. I can't wait to see what a dump the city is when this department is gone! Offer Bobby a retirement plan and he is gone. I think he has put up with enough of your shit already!

I for one have no intention of having public works monies go to the PD. I also know these guys "work in the hot sun". They chose to sign up for the job, they knew it would be in the sun. They also knew they would be "picking up stuff we leave at our curbs while we sit in the AC eating chocolates". The main point is that Bobby Pittman is NOT QUALIFIED to be a department head. Another point is that while one person is "working in the hot sun" there are usually at least 2 standing or leaning on a city truck in the shade smoking cigarettes. And public works SHOULD help maintain our municipal buildings. According to the line item budget figures, public works has their budget, which Bobby REFUSED to reduce last year, and then they also BILL other departments for the work that they do for them. Bobby was offered a retirement package, why didn't he take it? No one blames just public works, the court system, PD and city hall needs an overhaul too. I can't understand why so many of you don't understand that we are in trouble, these are hard economic times, and the city has an opportunity to hire some qualifed out of work people to actually do the work they are paid to do. People who think we are now getting more than 70% effort out of some on staff are sadly misinformed.

The public works director pay is what 56,000 (afer many, many years of service) for supervising 8-10 employees and the Mayor's Assistant is roughly 46,000 for supervising ZERO (O) with less than 6 or so yrs of service.

Talk about lack of parity. Which would you rather pay for?

The mayor's assistant position should be done away with. That is the most useless waste of money in the city. I'm real sorry about Bobby's pay, but he probably couldn't make that much anywhere else because no one would hire him to supervise others. He cannot do a budget, that is a dept head requirement.

You are right. Bobby makes a big salary. More than he could anywhere else working in maintenance. He makes more than a lot of police officers that put their life on the line every day. That's backward. He is building up a huge pension and benefits. He's got insurance. Do an ORR. Supposedly he gets a free truck to drive back and forth to work with gas and insurance paid for. Is that factual? If you go to the budget meetings you can hear it for yourself. He will get social secuity too. Did someone say give him a package to retire? You're kidding? It wasn't his fault the good old boys gave the job to him back when. He's had a great ride. Whose fault is it that he still holds a job he is not qualified for right now? Who does he report to? Whose fault is it that he gets to keep his job when he refuses to do a budget and answer budget questions from the acting mayor last year? What high school did Bobby graduate from? What high school did his supervisor graduate from?

Bobby is VERY lucky the good ole boys took care of him back when (30 years or so?). He couldn't get squat today with his lack of education. And to REFUSE to give budget updates and reduce his budget is blatant insubordination. But then again, it was Donna who backed away...again, really cool leadership skills. If he had done that in corporte America, he would have been gone in a heartbeat.

The maintence group aren't the bunch of overworked "we have to work in the sun" working hacks they try to make themselves out to be. Too many folks out there without jobs, more qualified, who would take their jobs immediately.

I know, right? I'm not sure Bobby has a high school diploma. Lot's of nepotism going on, Dennis Chupp is in that mix. But the mayor was elected, which tells me the education level is pretty low in these here parts.

A retirement plan? A retirement package? Something more than he's already getting in pay and pension and social security?

We shouldn't let this blabber bother us. It's obvious LaDonna made some calls and sent some emails hoping her cronies would step up and defend her and the rest of the deadbeats most people in the city are sick and tired of. Her cronies appear to be outnumbered, but maybe it's just because most of them can't read and write, let alone operate a computer.

And the King makes from the city alone $87,000 plus benefits. Oh, cry me a river! For part time work.

Problem is she has "been working" on that budget for months and still nothing to report. I recall she had "a plan for a balanced budget" smeared all over her campaign material...where's it at. It's been months and they don't even put it on the council meeting agenda.

So much for a plan...why don't you ask her where it is next time you see her, Sharon?

I'm betting she doesn't even know when our fiscal year ends. I've heard her say one or two things about taking money from one place to use in another that are just bone chilling. Against the law, duh. I was going to say that the 5000.00 a month she uses on "consultants" and "HR firms" is supposed to be for emergencies. Then I realized it is an emergency because she has no clue how to do the job. But at least she's "nice" and she's "lived here for 30 years".

A fulltime professional city manager. An experienced human resources manager. A competent court clerk. A certified city clerk. A civil engineer. A licensed accountant.

the CEO is so smart,

Recently, the recipe said separate 2 eggs. She put one egg in the living room and one egg in the bedroom. There she said, that ought to show people I'm real smart.

Balancing the budget was another challenge she rose to. Why she walked all the way across the vestibule with that dang heavy thing on her head without a dropping it. Everyone clapped. And, people say I'm dumb. Duh!

The next daily challenge is that darn smartie board in the executive chambers. Hell, why can't I get Y&R on this silly thing? She must have pushed on/off nearly 20 times to no avail and no voice command worked. Is that my vibermator or the TV clicker. Shoot, there's so much crap in this purse. Oh well! The childrens can likely figure it out.

Debits and credits. Who cares? Why is everyone so upset? Makes no sense to me. If you have lots of debits you surely can't get no credits! We'll just write a check when the cash runs out. I can't see that 1.5 million off budget is material. Heck, money ain't made of cloth, it is made of paper. Anyways, we're the government, we can just print some mo money.

It ain't a crime unless you gets caught!

Ya'll come back, ya here....

This is one of the funniest things I've ever read, well except for the post about Donna "working on the budget". LOL!
