NOT!

It looks like a horses ass thanks to that laughable architectural code (thanks Brye and Caleb) and all those variances granted without any tradeoffs in terms of conditions. Who recommended that be done?

How's that working for you?

People, you would be shocked if you even knew half of it. Joe Cooley is pushing anything and everything through in the name of revenue. The mayor and everyone but Trudy Dean are sitting up there condoning every action while voting to exceed the Halpern Park improvements budget by 7000.00. The beat goes on and until things change on that hill we are screwed!

So the council does report to the mayor? How can they legally go over budget? Doesn't that mean you go into debt? Are they borrowing money? Are they taking money from somewhere else for Halpern Park? Parks are a good thing but what about paying for a professional manager to actually run the city and what about hiring a city clerk to keep up with the city official records? That $7,000.00 could go a long way in doing things that are more important than a park right now. Why does Doraville have so many parks in such a small city anyway?Play space is great but going into debt is crazy.

Whether they have the money or not, they still spend it. Council sat in front of everyone last Monday and approved the $70000 overage rather than explore ways to do more with less. It doesn't seem to bother them that they don't have the money budgeted.

Remember, this was a budgeted $25,000 with $25,000 matching grant. That's $50,000 folks! Seems like they could have sought lower contract bidding or just eliminated a few things to stay within budget. This type of stupid spending is why the city is almost bankrupt.

I know personally if I don't have the money in my budget, I just do without or find another way to meet my goal. Duh!!

These people, except for Trudy, NEED TO GO!!!!!!

It sounds crazy. How can a city spend money it doesn't have? Where does the money come from? Who in their right mind votes to spend money on a park over putting money back in reserves? How do voters put a stop to the needless and crazy spending? What can be done to stop the blatant misuse of tax dollars?

I saw it today and it is just crazy. Who in their right mind allows such a thing on Buford Highway? It doesn't belong.

You can slap some paint on it. Hide it with an awning. But its still a massage parlor and a pawn shop and a check cashing store and oh yeah a wholesaler.

None of the above cheap sleazy businesses are wanted by residents.

It's funny that most of the residents have spoken very loudly against this low rent business mix but it goes unheeded by the slumlords, the planner and most on council. I guess they still think that one big voice is the voice of the people. You know the one, the one that posted "it's never going to go away so let's make it the best wholesale district in the country." Cushman must have some goooooood kool aid that he hands out to his "friends".
