Markie, the actions that were taken didn't come close to a violation of SOP excessive force. Humor me with your idea of how you proceed with a combative subject that resists an arrest? Like I've said before, lets not forget that this person put himself in this situation. Instead of complaining about what was done in any SOP, lets look at the facts that took place and the fallacies that other people have posted. When you struggle with another human being there are possibilities that one or both subjects might lose their balance. We don't live in a perfect word, and you can armchair quarterback all day but, unless your in that situation, hush. But of course you'll tell me that you have been in an attempt to disprove any point I bring to light. What taser?? There was none, spin that Markie. But given the chance, you'll try.

O.C.G.A. 16-11-39 (2010)
16-11-39. Disorderly conduct

(3) Without provocation, uses to or of another person in such other person's presence, opprobrious or abusive words which by their very utterance tend to incite to an immediate breach of the peace, that is to say, words which as a matter of common knowledge and under ordinary circumstances will, when used to or of another person in such other person's presence, naturally tend to provoke violent resentment, that is, words commonly called "fighting words"

65 year old men with heart conditions are a real threat I'm sure.

Let's see you try that on Lou Jenkins next time she blasts the government.

Three points for Ben 1:

1. We know it was a limited audience that night so that pretty much boils down to you are.(or are not)

2. IF the city passed an ordinance of their own against disorderly conduct, it wouldn't matter. They are infamous for not enforcing the ordinances on the books already.

3. My information came from a council member, so I stand by my facts.

Careful folks. Methinks this is just some drummed up distraction to what crap they are really screwing us on. I would focus on what happened at the meeting or was discussed more than this incident.

First off, F*** You, Ben 1. I wasn't there, and I don't pretend to know what happened. Second, I've never heard anyone go on the record and call a council person a "scumbag", I have heard people go on the record and let council and mayor know that they are unhappy with their performance, or lack thereof. I've never heard any "teeth sucking" either, are you getting confused between council meetings and massage parlors? The mayor (dictator) read a statement at a recent meeting prohibiting the public from speaking the truth (as in no "berating), no applause, etc.) Funny though, nothing was done to the slumlords when they applauded the CID presentation. Mr Stokes had his cell phone ring, took the call in the room, hung up and further disrupted a recent meeting by talking to Cooley, and standing in several residents line of sight while he did it. NOTHING was said or done to him, but after all, he is just another sleazy slumlord geezer. I bet all you King bashers and Donna lovers are having to work extra hard today to combat the majority, how many of you are there? Two, maybe three? Of course the slumlords may have some idiots doing their bidding too.

Bravo and well said, Fed Up.

At least you and I are on the same page...

I too was at the same meetings and what you say is absolutely true.

Ben 1, Since you were the other person at the meeting, you are either a council person, King, or the officer at the door or Linda Rawlins. There were only 2 people other than King sitting in the meeting. It was a work session, not a council meeting. Question for you, did the mayor instruct Bates to call after the gentleman as he was walking out the door? Was the mayor having problems speaking to anyone about the disruptive phone? I doubt it. I have heard other peoples phones ringing and seen and heard citizens talking loudly, laughing, snickering, making faces etc. in a council meeting and sometimes being called down about it and other times nothing being said. So just what did this little old man do that warranted King following him to the lobby and tackleing him, I'm sorry,'they fell to the floor'???
My guess is you know nothing about P Seagal, just like you know nothing about what happened at city hall at the work session the other night.'Lets not forget the concept that' just maybe this man will get a good attorney and prove that he was unjustly arrested and tackled to the ground. It must be a really proud moment for the DPD and certain citizens and council.

Stop reiterating old movie lines. The information that has been previously reported on this situation, is not accurate. No tasers, no bullying by the police or city council members. Just an ignorant rude individual that I guess dosen't have enough common sense or the concept on how to shut off or silent a cell phone. I was there, and the National Enquire-esq information you are trying to sell just is not true. You might not agree with all things city government, but stop the lying.
You were there? hmmmmmm!

Now that Ben has provided us the full picture obviously the police and council rightfully ended the huge threat Mr. Johnson was posing to the citizens of Doraville. God only knows what would have happened if Mr. Johnson had been allowed to leave city hall and get onto Buford Highway with his “ringing cell phone, giggling, and teeth sucking.”

Reread my original post above. The Chief was acting on the actions of Donna and Brian Bates.
Brian simply said "Chief" and Chief headed out of the room to keep the guy from re-entering.
This all stems from Donna's dictatorial effort to show everyone SHE is in charge. The Chief reports to Donna and the council so do you think he is going to risk a charge of insubordination? She has castrated him, makng him her goon bully bouncer.
The problem lies with Donna, Pam, Brian, Robert who get their feelings hurt if reprimanded and they want to stifle all in the audience. Hell, holler loud enough at Brian and he will literally start crying. Donna could just as easily said "No, Chief" and avoided the entire situation. Instead, she whines, "It's not MY fault. Brian is the one who told chief to go after him."
Give me a break. This is a sign of things to come as you see Donna and council seek to silence anyone who, rightfully so, points out their stupidity or challenges their actions. Can you say censorship? The media needs to hear about this fiasco.
Remember...you heard it here first!
WHAT??? you sound pathetic !!!
Why would he be heading out to keep the man from re-entering? How did the chief know that is what Brian wanted him to do? Was this all pre-planned? Donna doesn't need to 'show' anybody she is in charge. She is the mayor, therefore, she IS in charge and responsible. She has 'castrated' the chief? How so? She does everything he tells her to do or not ? She SHOULD have said NO Mr. Bates and chief. She should have went out there and told him to take his hands off the old man. We should all be so proud to be living in Doraville now. and definitely feel much safer.

Yeah, she's in charge of the meetings, and she blew it. As far as everything else in the city, Halpern is in charge. Maybe someone should touch base with them, or maybe get Chris to do it.

Observer Too, it is obvious that you don't get it and aren't tuned into the way Doraville city hall works.

Try coming to a meeting and educating yourself about how these people behave. Until them keep your own "pathetic" remarks to yourself.

Must have touched a nerve. Just seeing how you react to postings shows what kind of person you are. I don't see how attending any of the city meetings would be 'educating yourself'. I am seeing how you behave though. You are truly pathetic and pitiful. Chill out !!

I think you're right as for her blowing it at the meeting. She had an opportunity to stop all of the BS and did not do it.
Is Chris in charge of the Halpern bunch? Are you talking about Avers? Hope she's not planning on running for council. Roche will clean her pipes. AGAIN !! At least I hope he will.

Hey Fed up, go ask Mr. Hart about his scumbag comment you ignorant sorry individual. I would becareful about your phony lies about what you think you know. You governmental haters refuse to accept any information that might show that a non-governmental employee might be in the wrong. Im sure if I showed you a clear video that was sent to me from Jesus Christ, proving to you that there could have been 1% of wrong doing on that individual's part, you angry people would still embed it in your minds that it didn't happen that way. Once again I'll yell, WHERE WAS THE TASER DEPLOYED???????

Hey Mary! You get the first prize for the most ignorant post on this subject. For you to even mention Mrs. Jenkins name in comparison to a rude disruptive fool, you should be banned from any social networking in this state. Number 2, the rude disruptive fool and a heart condition? I can assure you of this, when he was acting like a poor citizen while dealing with Chief King and that uniformed officer, he failed to mention anything about his awful heart condition. I guess the next person that breaks into your house and those awful police officer's come to save you, if the bad guy says that he has a heart condition, we'll just let him go on his way. Shame on your comparison.

Better yet you Donna loving moron, why don't you tell me where to find it in the minutes? And sorry to say this, but Tom Hart making a comment does not reflect the views of most citizens. I've never seen anyone say anything but the TRUTH at the meetings, mostly in reference to the lack of action on any damn thing except issues that affect the slumlords. Now chill out Ben 1 and run over to S & S before they close. Oh that's right, you probably already ate there at 4:30. It's past your bedtime. As for the tazering, I heard from someone who CALLED city hall to ask about it that it did not happen. Most of us do not perpetuate bullshit, we check our facts.

Maybe Officer HORNEY (prior issues with sex behind the NTD, the bank, and in the cruiser while in uniform, caught and on the tv in plain sight with accuser and his married sex partner) has had his pants ruffled.

We all know how you roll. Good thing you weren't in the mood or the victim would have been mounted.
