ok i will agree donnie did acts that were illegal, but to say he is a thief is just not right! From what I read, he is charged with one act of thievery.. I have been the victim of a car break ins, a business break in, and house break in, and it is a terrible thing, and in all three cases there was an apparent suspect who had very recently been released from prison, who upon release went back to committing his same "m.o.". In all cases that criminal, like these two criminals, avoided contact with the victim. When I compare this to the armed robbery when my cousin was shot twice in the chest in a struggle over his business bank deposit, or the man I knew in high school who was shot and killed while opening his family's business, or the recent home invasion in which an elderly woman was beaten, I see a difference that I think needs to be acknowledged. There are drug addicted people who avoid confrontational violence when they commit their property crimes, and there are others who have no regard at all for life and intentionally create a confrontation with the potential for or intent of serious bodily harm. In my opinion, jail serves only one useful purpose, and that is to keep dangerous people incarcerated where they can not do further harm to the public.

First and for most you donít know anything for a fact. If you have a family member with addiction problems and there are many places you can get help. A Few sites to check would be http://24houraddictionhelp.org/...
http://helpguide.org/mental/drug_substance_ab...
There are many more so your facts are just a little off. You can get help for family members who donít want it. There is help you just have to ask. I am not judging I am telling you the truth. Apparently you like being the victims and what you do is everyone elseís fault. I am not buying it.
Hopefully this will quieten you up and allow ur negative thoughts to be generated into a loving heart for ppl in this condition....i clicked on the site above that u presented to signify help is out there. I know first hand the information i recieved from law enforcement in waynesboro...."Unless they are willing to seek treatment, there is NOTHING family can do. Like you i didnt want to accept that so i looked deeper....and yeah sites as you mentioned and many others are out there for the families of adult clients who want help and when they r addicted wouldnt it be natural for them to NOT want help UNTIL something takes place that breaks thru whatever addicted them in the first place! So as i looked deeper i too, found places as u mentioned, HOWEVER they are 4 agreeable adult clients NOT families....they will offer support and help to families but their job can only b done if the client is WILLING......and yeah they also have an intervention link.....that too can ONLY be done, if client wants it or if the facilty feels their condition warrants a TDO (temperary detainment order) but then the client has to go infront of the magistrate to b detained without their permission, AND if the magistrate dont see any signs ( and He has laws He has to abide)they need to, inorder to detain the client he wont do it.....so ya see its nothing that can be done by family except love and prayer and to not enable their loved one.I found that unless a person is unconcious or acting billigerant TDO'n isnt an option.....one more thing..the place u provided are consistent with prices i have found ( 5000.00 -80000.00) a month....what i hope u r seeing is the option to help ur loved adult is narrowing

you dont have to buy it just read it! after all, it's your own link's info:
It clearly tells u in the first sentence that they have a hotline to help ADULT CLIENTS it did not say help familes of the client:

Adult Addiction Treatment
Our extensive relationships throughout the recovery services community enable the Addiction Hotline to refer the adult client with addiction problems to many of the finest recovery providers in North America.

Depending on the callers needs, and based on information given to the Addiction Hotline professional, there are several models of drug and alcohol rehabilitation settings an adult addict can choose.

For starters there is detox. Detox centers provide a safe place where the addicted individual can come off drugs/alcohol in a comfortable setting. In many cases, this is done in a hospital setting with a doctor and nurses on staff to administer medications and to ensure the client stays healthy during the detox process.

It is only after the detox is complete the treatment process can begin. Often times, potential treatment clients try to detox on their own, which statistics show lead to a high relapse rate. Professionals from the Addiction Hotline recommend that the caller contacts the drug and alcohol rehab center he or she plans on entering treatment, for their recommendations regarding detox.

When inpatient drug and alcohol rehabs centers are out of the question, then the hotline professional refers the caller to an outpatient drug and alcohol counseling centers in his or her local vicinity. Additionally, a professional a professional on the Addiction Hotline refers callers in crisis, or Outpatient Counseling By Telephone.

Once in a drug and alcohol treatment center, clients receive counseling and/or therapy for addictions related alcohol, street drugs and prescription drugs.

Regardless of the particular therapeutic setting, the counselor will attempt to assess and test to determine the root and triggers behind the clientís drug/alcohol usage.

They will also attempt to limit the effect/affect on the individualís family and social relationships and look for danger/warning signs and symptoms, both physical and psychological, which may indicate an advanced treatment modality such as detoxification (detox), to counter withdrawal symptoms, or hospitalization at a clinical institute in the case of liver disease or other adverse effects on the body.

In addition to the treatment plan, the therapist/counselor will often suggest regular attendance at such self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). Their protocol may also suggest Alanon/Alateen, Coanon or Co-Dependents Anonymous for members of the family in order to foster better understanding for all who are impacted.

No I didnít see him steel the TV! WAL-MART security did. No he wasnít in the wrong place at the wrong time he chose to steal a TV at the wrong time. Not that there is a right time to steel. No you donít get charged if you are an honest person with someone who is steeling. When asked by security or the police who stole the TV you tell them. However you can play the game, by saying I donít know when you are being taped watching and or participating. So now that makes you a lying thief. How do you know I wonít be in court when the facts will come out? I attend church every SUNDAY, WEDNESDAY, and even church meetings on Monday. If you think speaking the truth is judging then you are miss guided and miss informed. Maybe you should go to Church.
yeah we know he stole too, but who are to judge as to why? we havent a clue, nor should guess.....it only makes a fool out of me and u! only he and god knows why! for all we know it could have been the drugs or it could have been a gang forcing him to or die......like i said who r we to know! you go on to call another person a thief who is on this thread and did not steal! you r judging this man at the same time u are classifying urself as a full time attendee of a church......to do this u should at least conduct out of love?

thank you for acknowledging this point! I totally agree jail has one purpose...to keep dangerous people incarcerated where they cannot do further harm to public and i truly believe these two men were crimes of addiction. However it could lead to an accidental fatalitly easily out of fear and not being in their right mind,,,,,which is even more the reason to help addicts ....i too have had a break in on an automobile of mine and our home was broken into....never knew who did it tho

I guess you have been right and your actions have made a great impact on his life. Condone, comfort and get mad at anyone who doesnít think a thief should be punished. Get real lady, he stole or helped someone steal. I donít have to judge I know it is wrong; I donít need a clue to know wrong from right. If it is not mine, I donít have a right to take it unless it is offered for sale and I pay for it.. That is not so hard to understand.. If he hadnít been a thief and stole you would not be here crusading what a great misguided guy he is. He could have been high on drugs or forced by a gang to steal,ďWHATĒ I guess if youíre going to make excuses for whatever he does so it will always be blamed on someone else. Why not make HIM accountable for his actions and quit blaming others for his misguided and selfish deeds. And NO I have not judged anyone in this case I simply have read the article and through reasonable thinking have I made my feelings known.(By the way may actions are not a violation of law)The courts will judge him, and you will continue to condone and make excuses for his conduct.

If you get caught stealing, your a thief. And do you really believe he got caught the first time he stole something? And why does the community need to wake up and hug and love a addict/thief? That's the families job, not ours. It's personal responsibility. He made those choices and now he has to live with the consequences. If they want to re-hab him in jail, more power to them. Re-hab is for addicts and jail is for thieves. Maybe jail will have a sobering effect on him. Maybe not. It's his choice with his families help. It's the courts responsibility to keep him out of our homes.

Again it was one charge for stealing! and yes i do think they both are victims of addiction. Maybe now the community will wake up and see it's better to help these ppl, thru loving them than to throw em in jail and send em out with NO treatment. And yes they committed acts of violence, and YES they have victims here and that is sad. THe problem is only getting worse. I know both of these men.....one has been in and out of jail all his adult life ( see va judicial system) the other has a family, with children and did work, until the addictive drug was introduced into their lives.....Meth is a devils drug and will steal, kill and die, UNLESS they recieve treatment for their obvious addiction, at which our system is not equipped to sucessfully do. However I do believe anyone can change IF they want to and ONLY if they want it to. Jail is not the place for eithier. The one may like it whereas the other has great potential. Both have families that are hurting just as much as the victims so be careful how you judge! We all are children of God, and God is dilegently working to help them achieve their potential. It's choices and conditions that led to this and nothing else. Had they not been addicted, their choices obviously could have been different! Pray for these adults, who are someones children, that they too get the help needed to accomplish their goals in life.
Thanks for ur kind words, as a family memeber I hurt so much!

Donnie credit for humbling himself and being honest to the law enforcement. Yeah it is public record and if you do your homework you would see just who the leader is in this case (s) and this hunny starts when they are born!! Lets help the families not attack them so?
Not only was Donnie honest with the law enforcement, Matthew was more than honest and got more charges than the police had cuz he came clean and admitted to his problems and things he did, keep the prayers comeing Waynesboro Lady ur great and so glad u understand!

Whether they are guilty or innocent, and what they will be charged with is up to the courts. Whether or not their motivation was drug related, it matters not. There are not "degrees" of guilt if charged with burglary/theft.

What amazes me is the attitude of the general population towards crime (and morals in general) "today." Without sounding preachy or judging, just think back 25-35 years when drug use was a scandal, thieves were not tolerated, sexual predators were eliminated from society, people seemed to be more considerate of others and manners were still valued, and we didn't make excuses for those who were convicted of crimes -- there was an element of shame related to it.

Sorry, but after reading all this back and forth with accusations and excuses, I am just really sad about where this country is headed. The economy is in the toilet, crime seems not only up, but somehow excused if conditions warrant, and jails are so over-crowded that if there was no injury to the victim the accused gets a lessor sentence.

guess what? GOD is good...all the time! for those of u who may never know what its like 2 be a drug addict, praise the LORD. But for me i do know what its like and it has destroyed my life. i pay for my decisions so what anyone else says about me is only an opinion, amen. Call me a thief, i was. call me a liar, i have. call me what u want, but please remember to always call me a child of GOD! this seems to be fun for some of you to post comments about me and donnie i hope it helps u get your rocks off cause it doesnt bother me nor will it ever. i thank those of u who are praying for me because im trying to get my life straight and its gonna take some time. u cant build rome in one day nor can a man change in one day. I hope n pray that u never have a child that becomes addicted to crack cocaine n crystal meth whatever the case may be. ive been addicted for a long time. i can say that a locked door cant keep a thief out no matter what though i wont be going thru any more of this gossip on here i just wanted to say that GOD is on my side and He will see to it that i will not go without. Hallelujah to that. Worry about your own life and let me take care of mine. i didnt kill anyone i stole some steaks, a tv, a credit card, n a lawnmower, and some stuff from speedys and for the record i didnt break into speedys i used the key to the front door. sorry you feel the way you do rick but you can get used to seeing me cause im gonna be around i live here to, and thanks to your wife and her prayers. i dont hold any hard feelings toward no one, let me pay for my mistakes and live my life. i apologize for my actions God has forgiven me and thats all that matters really. i dont care what people think of me because no one has walked a day in my shoes, they dont know how i feel, they dont know my hurts, they have no clue whatsoever about my life, so go ahead and talk about me you only make yourself out to be the fool. a man only gets one chance at this thing called life, at 26, ive made some terrible choices and ive made those choices because i wanted to smoke crack if u dont like the truth then dont read my writing. i had a problem and by the grace of GOD i can say today that i am clean and sober. as the days go on my faith is only gonna get stronger and my wisdom for the LORD is gonna get deeper so this town better get prepared for a revival and im gonna be the preacher. if u dont believe that, then all u gotta do is watch, ill be around i face my diversities and move on with life. i hope that my prayers might reach the heart of non-believers and that the Spirit will move in the hearts of of my beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. i love you all and hope that GOD may bless you in ways that no one else can. GOD can do all things.....period. He has changed my life and that is a fact. thats all i got to say about the issue at hand, thanks.
