Is it really that bad now?

I use to live there some 18 yrs ago had my babies there and Watseka never seemed to have these issues.I was even thinking of coming back this summer for a trip down memory lane and to show my children where they were born, but than maybe a memory is better than reality.I now live in a huge state and would feel safer here.I remember lazy summers at the park, Monicals pizza on Friday night and Vip's on Saturday evening.I met my first boyfriend there and my future husband(that was the worst that happend to me there)lol.
But seriously reading these post make me glad I no longer live there. I am so sorry you are all so unhappy.I will pray for you all God Bless

I too used to live in Watseka.......glad I got out of there before my kids got corrupted in all the mess that is there.........

You're right there is a lot of stuff that goes on in Watseka. There is a lot of stuff that goes on in many towns (small or large). Some towns you here about and some you don't. Every state, every town has some bad in it. Stockland, Milford, Onarga, Beaverville, St. Anne, HP, Kankakee, Manteno, ECT... all the way to the Chicago there have been several crimes, sexual assults, drugs, child molestation and yes even murder. It really sucks and wish I could change it. Whether you go north, south, east or west there has been some sort of hanis crime committed. Some times we don't hear about them and that really sucks. So I guess what I am trying to say whether you're in Watseka or some other town and state it happens, wish it didn't but no matter where you are your kids have to make the right desisions and if they are made you won't have to worry about them getting corrupted, if they don't make the right desisions then well corruption. It sucks, we raise our kids with values and morals,and manners. Teach them right from wrong and pray everyday they use what we teach them.

You are so right MaMa. There is crime everywhere.....maybe because Watseka is a small town it seems like it is the same people over and over involved in everything.

I left Watseka for five years due to joining the army… every town or city I lived in had the same ole drama that most people see here… In a city, you might know about it but there are also thousands of other people that don’t yet they have their own drama…

Being in a small town, half the people or more know about it and this topix site doesn’t help much…

I hope people do not get a misconstrued view to Watseka due to reading this stuff because it is a small sub class of people that are doing this, the rest of the town is perfectly fine…

It is only bad now because we are getting older and we never realize things until we get older and wiser…

Younger, we still had the drama but never really paid to much attention to it and now that we understand reality or atleast should understand: the younger generation below will always look bad due to a lack of education, discipline, guidance and good ole fashion core values…

Each person is different when it comes to a values system so we look at everything in a new perspective as we age… Our parents and grandparents did it to us, saying we have it easier… Now we are the older generation looking at the newer generation saying that they have it easier and it is actually true due to technology booming so damn fast…

I never had a computer, cell phone or anything like this when I was young and I know you can agree with me on that… all I had was a bicycle and road around town with my friends….

But to end this, Watseka is not that bad, all towns are the same now matter how many people…

I graduated from WCHS about 10 years ago and was thinking about comming back but reading the watseka forum is nuts. I moved to a small southern illinois town (actually, its a bit bigger than watseka) but our forums consist of "how is everyones garden doing so far?" and things of that nature so reading watsekas forum is kinda scaring me away from even visiting. Is it just that Watseka has more people with nothing to do with their time but be nasty on the computer?

I too used to live in Watseka........I know most of those involved in the murders and unsolved ones too.........that is what is shocking to people, is that you actually know these people!!!!

I sit with my friends and read everyones post from topix and laugh!! no other forum on this site is as pathetic or psycho! makes me relieved to be GONE!!They sit on here and talk about who did what and yes it is the same old people..but has anyone ever thought that it's the SAME people on here posting?

Home of the white squirrel,was born there.Watseka isnt as bad as it sounds but the people in olney are much happier and less bitter.It is their southern roots.Olney is like living down south.Much more laid back and not as corrupt or evil.Watseka has no compassion or town spirit.As a child growing up on the west side of watseka,we all looked out and stuck up for fellow westsiders,i dont see any of that anymore.I was saved a buttkicking many times from fellow westsiders i barely knew.Now they dont even wave at each other.Just too bad,things will get better though.Hang in there fellow Watseka residents.Ive been all over the country and Watseka is still one of nicest places ive ever been.especially if you live right.A lot of you peeps on here putting down Watseka were probably ran out of town or helped give it its bad image.Start with yourself,be kind and dont screw people over.If someone screws you over,eliminate them from your lives.Watseka has a bad habit of half the peeps thinking thier better than the other half.If the jokers would just realize that life is too short to judge and put your noses up in the air,Watseka would be a much better place for everyone.
