the only reason your son would want a prince albert piercing is for sexual purposes. if you let him get one, you are promoting this behavior. he is only 16!!! unless you want grandkids early, i would nip this in the bud. you are the one in charge here, right?

To "Thinkin real hard": I have just a couple things to say to you. 1- This is not a real post. You are just trying to start something to get people's attention. This has already been done by the "Should I let my X year old daughter get her nipple pierced?" Try to get something more original. 2- If this were a serious post, which I'm positive it is not, then you're a bigger idiot than I thought. Letting a 16 year old get his penis pierced is ridiculous.

To "hell no": I agree that this should not happen, but you're delusional if you think 16 year old kids are not having sex, with or without a Prince Albert. And this does not always lead to grandchildren. Some teenagers are responsible, most are not.

To anyone of teenagers: Buy them condoms, not piercings. It will have a better outcome, promise.

Hell, I know 16 year olds are having sex. I was 16 once. I'm just saying that parents shouldn't be promoting it, that's all.

Agreed completely. But if they are aware of their children participating in sexual activities, they need to educate them on the safe ways to do so. This is not encouraging them. You can find a way to tell them what the options are out there, without making them feel like you support it.

If teenagers felt that it wouldn't be a big deal to get condoms, I'm sure we'd see many fewer pregnancies at the high school.

Maybe if it wasn't as socially acceptable as it is today we wouldn't have as many teenage pregnancies. People treat it like it's no big deal these days. When I was in high school in Doniphan just a decade ago, there were 24 pregnant girls at one time, that's 10% of the girls that go to Doniphan High School! I wouldn't be surprised if it was higher now. Not one of those couples are together today. Something's definitely wrong.

For the PA on the 16 yr old==NO< NO> NO

For the girls in school that are getting pregnant, they seem to be proud of the fact. In one way having babies when you are young is good, but not if you can not take care of them. That means taking care of them yourself and not depending on welfare, and Mom and Dad. If the guy you are having sex with is not worthy of being a Dad then keep your legs tightly closed girls.

And just how many "other prince alberts" have you seen on teenaged boys? Are you gonna check his out after you let him get it?
Hmmmmmmmmm, I wonder!!!

He will not be happy with just one tattoo, look around, I despise tattoo's, I wouldn't want any for free even. for real I think they are a disgrace, and make people look cheap,. wait until you are "older" you will get a clue by then ,I guess, I don't mean to be harsh, many people just don't know any better. I really think many of these that have them will wish later, they had not done it.Be different. it is just another addiction.

All I can say is if your son is sixteen and you have to ask a forum how to handle him, then that might be your problem right there. I know parental control is not what it used to be, but as long as their feet are under your dinner table, you call the shots. They deserve an answer based on YOUR judgement, not theirs.

Todays teens have a false perception of sex all together ! They seem to think it is "no big deal" and it amazes me! I have been around for quite a few years now and have pretty much seen and done it all (so to speak) and have yet to find a "bigger deal" than intimacy between two humans. And what ever happened to the popular idea(in my time) of having -PRIDE-SELF-ESTEEM-SHAME-RESPE CT (for ones self as well as others)- it can only lead to a happiness that few today find , I'm afraid. One should never let ones self down at any time and your pride in yourself will take you far (I promise)!! Just a thought.

I forgot to adress the issue of peircings and tattoos. Personally I do not get it? I can't see what the draw is for peircings whatsoever and am lukewarm on the idea of tattoos. I know I certainly dislike the huge and "all over" type stuff they are doing today . A tattoo is forever and I couldn't imagine what I would consider that important so as to post it on my body eternally!! Peircings have actually been a part of history since the beginning I guess. I just thought we had progressed enough to no longer see a need for it !

I 'kinda agree with Post #4. A little odd that a parent would ask a question like that about their teenager on Topix. WELLRED has a good point also. We do need basic fundamentals taught to our youngsters for their benefit in life. After all, they will soon be out on their own before they know it. To "thinking real hard", if this is a real thing, why don't you as a parent, explain to this this young man about the risk he's taking on the procedure. I think HE would be smart enough to decide against it whether you are or not.

A prince albert piercing and teenage pregnancy are 2 diifferent topics altogether.
If he wants a prince albert piercing and you say no, then he's probably gonna get it anyway.
I'm surprised that a 16 year old boy would ask his parent for a prince albert.
In my opinion, its just a personal piece of jewellery. But he must remember that if he does it then it is a permanent fixture.

first of all, don't they have to be 18 or have parental consent in order to have this procedure performed? second of all, what in the world is a prince albert piercing?
