This is coming from a very reliable source they are in the process of laying off 175 more people, I think they started this week with that. Also know that as of Jan 1 they are closing the doors and I only say this because I work in a place for displaced workers and was given this information straight from the NORDYNE office. I know a bunch of people that work there and feel very sorry for everyone. I hope that by some miracle that this dont happen but from the way it looks it is coming sooner than later.

Isn't that the truth anymore!!! They say the American citizens don't want to work anymore, but that is because we don't want to go to where the jobs are being moved to,... China, Mexico, Korea,...! It actually seems more like they don't want to pay for an honest day's work, because that would cut into their profits!
I guess you have never tried to hire good help around this part of the country.I've tried for weeks to hire someone around here,no luck.People just don't want to work.

Employees references employers just like employers do employees. I used to send people out to a place in Gatewood where I was working, now I tell them to avoid it at all costs.. At the start, it was a great place to work. The guy who owns it isn't that bad. In fact, he's kind of decent and I considered him a friend. But as he kept hiring more and more of his family members who took advantage of him and his business, it quickly went downhill. Before it was over, he had about 4 non-family employees trying to earn the wages of about 10 or 11 people. He knew what the problem was, but chose to keep his head in the sand instead of making waves within the family. He began trying to offset the extra costs his family members were creating, by taking advantage of his good employees. His own niece had decided at one point should would try to put the company under so she draw unemployment for 2 years and go to college on the taxpayer's dime. Instead of working and going to school like the rest of us would, she'd put people with families out of work so she could get a free ride. She'd fit right in up at the welfare office, wouldn't she? When some of those family employees started acting like bosses on top of letting other people earn their wages for them, it became more than most of the good employees could stand. Now, the poor guy is on the brink of losing his business, his farm, and everything he has. Wonder if his head is still in the sand? Likely so. I've heard him say himself, that people don't want to work. Must've have been referencing his family members. I try to be sympathetic to his plight, but find it hard. I understand his delima, but it his problem to fix. I've had some of my family members try to take advantage of me before, they no longer come around here any more. And are probably lucky to even still be considered family. So, before you go bashing everyone, it might be a good idead to take a look at you own house and see if there's any cleaning that needs to be done.

Sorry about the typos, I just still get aggrivated when I think about that mess. Wnen I left it was be cause if I'd have spent one more day working with his smart@ass, worthless, hateful, nonproductive sister-in-law; I'd have likely knocked her out.

They announced during our meeting yesterday that there would be major layoffs at our job. The manager said all factories are suffering, he said they have it on good authority that Nordyne will be closing after the first of Jan.

No one on this blog has a clue of what is going on at NORDYNE. The housing market is down and so is the demand for heating and air systems. NORDYNE has always had layoff in the of season. That is why they hire SEASONAL employees. We have never had economic conditions this poor. NORDYNE is doing what it has to do to stay competitive in these times. They could keep everyone they ever hired and pay them way to much money and give them over inflated benefits and then they would be just like our auto workers -- on the verge of complete failure. All companies and industries are struggling to stay competitive and NORDYNE is no exception. I am confident that NORDYNE is not going any where, just doing what it takes to stay competitive and survive these poor economic times.

Ummm they didnt just layoff seasonal employees. They layed them all off in july. They went for full time employees in sept. and then went to what they called downsizing and got rid of some supervisors. Also demoted a lot of leads and walked out the plant manager. I'm not gonna make accusations on what will happen b/c I dont know but hopefully they will let people know atleast a week ahead of time if they do close.
