the girls are inexperienced but have alot of heart....there young and they want to make a splash....I have watched them play a couple of times this year and at times you can see a potentially great team....they have more size than what you expect w Christin Ivy(good rebounder and hustler),Erin Pennington(Great Post and good shot),Kadie Civils(has a good all around game probably their best player),and Hannah Netherland all being about 5"9 or taller....and Netherland running the PG and G spot and being a tremendous shooter she could have a big year....They have some really good guards this year too...Cassey Hart will be a Huge threat behind the arc(her shoot is looking awesome)and Jackie Cardens defense is very strong along w her ballhandeling, and Jessica Aden is a great athlete that can shoot and play defense....Their defense and shooting have improved alot this year but their rebouding is still lacking some....overall they should have a good team this year and should DEFINETLY not be overlooked.....

What about the girls' softball team? Remember their third place finish at last Spring's OFC tourney at TRCC? Not much fanfare there from the Prospect News.

What I am saying is let us not forget the "not so" popular sports (ie: Cross Country, Golf, Volleyball) DHS offers.

Our softball girls got very little publicity. They have improved so much and it has been a challenge for them. The last four years has been four different coaches. Yes i agree, Doniphan fans need to support all the other sports as much as they do basketball.

Need to view it first hand and decide for yourself. I just don't quite know (at this time) if the girls' are stronger than last year,

and

I don't need to be subjected to a lot of negative comments for this.

You can discuss softball all you want and I will be one of their biggest fan.

Dilbert is nice.

I think the team is looking pretty good so far. I just worry about how young most of the team is. Who exactly would you call the "leader" out of the girls this year?

Are you referring to softball or basketball? Either way, good luck to them all.

I think our Donettes this year are going to be great. "Go Doniphan" was right on about our strong points. As for the age, we only have 2 returning seniors, but unfortunately for the team returning next year, these 2 girls are really great. And they should be. They have worked their butts off since 4th grade to get where they are now. And they have gotten this far on their merit, not their names. Hopefully they will be an inspiration to all the up and coming Donettes and coaches will learn that names don't win ball games, hard work and talent does.

The story about him falling asleep at the wheel is true, and yes some girls have left because of him. He has already started playing favorites by who your parents are. Hopefully our girls will work hard and overcome any problems the coach has and just work as a team. HOPEFULLY, he will allow the girls who need to be on the court to be there, instead of checking to see who their parents are first.
This has always been a problem in Doniphan.

You people obviously don't lnow the real story behind the girls dropping out do you? honestly the girls are dropping out because is the hardest coach they have ever had and the training that he put them through in the spring would have killed most of the people on this site. don't start putting all the responsiblity for this action on one occasion. the girls started the year strong and they will finish in the same fashion as always. i personal want to say good luck to the girls and more power to the ones that stick to the sport that love. go doniphan

I do know the whole story behind all of it. And yes most of the ones who dropped out couldn't take his practice schedule. The problem is that he expects them to work that hard but still play the name game. The girls that are still there are really great, and yes they have put there ALL into it, I just hope that he judges them on how they play, not there family trees and trying to make a good impression in Doniphan with the "right" people. These girls really deserve our respect for working as hard as they do, and us as fans should support them wholeheartedly.
