I underastand there was no lock-out procedure where Jamie Vickers worked and died. Can anyone say for sure if there was one in place or not. If not.,I pray his family will take the appropriate actions.

Why would this suddenly be a concern for anyone to bring up on this site months after his death? If you care so much, why dont you go speak with his family instead of posting on here?

I knew Jamie and I liked him very much. I missed a call from him on the day of his death.I returned his call and got no answer. It breaks my heart. This question was not asked out of curiosity but out of concern and anger. His death was avoidable. OSHA sets safety rules and guidelines for safety in the work place. I am familiar with this because in the past I have assisted with drafting safety manuals and procedures per OSHA standards. Had these procedures been followed Jamie's death would not have occured. Now back to my question, If these percedurs were in place and followed by Jamie, this tradgey would not have occured. Thats one thing, but if there were no safety procedures for him to follow, this is another. Shouldn't someone be held responsible?????

Yes justcaring!! Someone should be held responsible. I live between Webb and Columbia - I have known the Vickers family all my life - I wondered the same thing. When it happened Qualico Steel did not have the respect to place a black ribbon on the door. I waited all week of the accident for that to happen. I have always heard they are a strong Christian company to work for and to see them not acknowledge Jamie's death was unexcuseable. I have worked in a manufacuting environment for over 20 years and OSHA does not play. I am sure the family is not done with this accident. I pray for their peace in this situation. It si very sad. He was a bright young man and I had heard he was about to go into the ministery. God Bless his family.
