Carol I think you are under impression that Lily works in District 130. I don't think that's the case. I've talked to several teachers and a union rep & told them about this thread and Lily in particular. They have been 'lurking" for the past weeks and they have come out & told me she is either not a teacher at all or if a teacher, not working in BI.
Or maybe Lily is not her real name? Do you think she wants to get fired because she speaks her mind?

Search the Family Taxpayer Foundation database @ http://www.familytaxpayers.org/salary.php to see what teachers and administrators get paid. No listing for Lauk but Elizabeth Reynolds in Calumet Park is getting paid $200,912. Since some of our kids in Blue Island go to schools in Calumet Park, how much money are we giving them?
Lauk makes over $200k as well

Response: He doesn't speak to anyone, including parents. Non-social individual. How many people from his past will he place in positions in Blue Island? What is the purpose of surrounding oneself with people from the past?
Our school district needed changes certainly, but not a complete makeover. To the person who said "those teachers needed to go," they were replaced with those who have 0 experience in the age level or subject they are teaching.
Get your information. Or better yet, develop some faith in those that choose teaching as a profession. Most have $60,000 in school loans with little hope of paying them off.
Our country is sunk if we keep focusing on the teachers (who make little) and not on the political heads who are passing the buck downward.
Bravo Smokescreen! I work with this man and you are 100% right. He is currently holding the Pupil Personnel Director position for his good friend Bob Hildreth, whom he booted Mr. Gmazel out, to give his buddy the Kerr principal job. Can you say Charles Flowers?

Schools work best when they have the input and and the concern of the community and when the parents and teachers are included in the educational process. Dr. Lauk and the school board started removing experienced
teachers from Kerr Middle without parental or teacher input. This is is not a good way to run a school district.
Parents are just as much to blame for their childrens failures. The education of students is a team effort from parents, to teachers, to principals, to bus drivers, to the board of ed, to the school ofgice staff AND the superintendent. Parents neef to oarticipate in their childrens educations, mske them do home work, get them help if they are having dificulties learning. But no, parents sluff it off to the schools. Lauk needs to stop targeting and start encouraging.

Ray Lauk is once again up to his old tricks. He is trying to keep the B.O.E. out of the loop on many MANY thigs, especially those that make him look bad. Ray Lauk tried to fire a wonderful principal, because the man dared to challenge the "almighty" superintendent. He tried to pass a dual language building plan through while only giving bits and pieces of information to the board. Now he is allowing parents to call the shots on opperational issues with in the district. Parent involvement is one thing, but having parents come in an work with an employee and have a say in certain things is wrong. Teachers, before you know it, he will FORCE you to have parents monitoring your class rooms and your curriculum details. Principals, soon he will be allowing your parents to dictate IF and WHEN discipline should occur for bad student behavior. Ray Lauk acts like he is above the law and the community to whihc he answers to. The rose color glasses need to come off and people need to start banding together to prove him unfit to run the district we all love so much. To Lauk and the other administrators, this is just a job, for those who have worked in the district for 10, 20, or 30 plus years, it is a family. Dont let Dr. Wanna be Lauk, tear our family apart.

As a mother of students who were educated in District 130 and friend to many district employees, I am sickened by Dr. Lauk. He is OBSESSED with comparing our district to New Trier. His question during every interview is what is the most worthless job in education......answer the superintendent of of New Trier. He then goes on to boast about how important he is to the district. I mean really? How about we focus on our district rather than attacking other districts....I mean how unprofessional!

Its interesting because of for all of Dr. Lauk's boasting, our children in 130 score well below the state average on the LSATS in math, science and reading. According to the IL State Board of Ed, in 2010, our 3rd graders were a good 10 points under the state average in reading. We have paid Ray Lauk a great deal of money and paid for all of his newly-hired "assistants" but our kids are still far behind in their basic academic skills. What a waste of the taxpayers money.

I heard they want more assistants at $50,000 a pop for the district office, but programs for kids are getting cut...hmmm....

Sound like changes are needed on the school board as well as in the superintendent's office. Ever try to call his office? He tells his secretary that he won't talk to parents. Isn't that part of his job?

The taxpayers have never gotten an honest day's work out of Lauk he is very destructive and has little to offer the community, parents, children, or teachers. He should have been released years ago.

The problem is you cannot criticize his work as an administrator because of his sexual persuasion!

WHILE HE WAS GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF FINDING HIMSELF THOSE UNFORTUNATE TO ENCOUNTERED HIM DAILY WERE UNKNOWINGLY IMPACTED BY HIS AFFECT, MANNER, AND COMPLEX PERSONAL ISSUES, NO ONE HAD TIME TO PROCESS WITH HIM ON OR OFF WORK TIME..

THAT IS WHAT EAP PROGRAMS AND THERAPY IS FOR.

Most especially if he brought this personel issues to the table/work place.

Dr. Lauk is NOT trying to help the Blue Island School District. He is trying to make a name for himself and once he does he will leave the BI School District. He is a GREEDY MAN that only cares about the PERFORMING ARTS-Second City, Jeoffrey Ballet, Chicago Film Festival, etc. If he were to spend as much time as he does in his little performing arts he might have a clue of what is going on in Blue Island/Crestwood School District. There are teachers at Kerr that want the best for these kids but they are not the only to blame the parents are as well. Teachers have these students for about 6 hours a day. What are the parents doing the rest of the time....and please do not use-work b/c I work and I take care and make time for my kids. As far as just focusing on one teacher, Mr. Sarli. He continues for the last 33 years to focus on his students, the community, and family. And the only reason he is being reassign is b/c Dr. Lauk does not like him because he speaks up for the kids, teachers, and the community. Dr. Lauk also states he needs bilingual teachers, well let me tell you that he does not treat them right nor does he know anything about the bilingual department and he is not bilingual. I HAVE DONE MY HOMEWORK!!!! BLUE ISLAND needs someone who can relate and since July Dr. Lauk has not been able to relate he knows nothing of the community and I gurantee after his contract he will be GONE b/c he does not care!!!!!!!!!
and now, I understand, he is leaving, is that true? Was he fired or left on his own?

Now you understand the 'personality' differences SD103 had.........I am sorry you had to go through this.

Are any teachers/administrators applying for the superintendent position? I wonder if Mr. Duggan would consider it.
