How are the snow streets to be plowed if cars are in the way? The snow truck drivers would appreciate a little help their jobs are hard enough.

I think they gave everyone a break for the holiday, but I just got this from DC Cornell:

The Blue Island Police Department has begun to enforce the snow routes. Please notify anyone parked on a snow route to move their vehicles so our public works department can safely clear the streets.

Thank you

Please move your cars to one of the side streets. I know it's a pain, but we need to get the streets cleared. If a neighbor has a driveway, check to see if you can park there for a bit or park on one of the other side streets.

Happy New Year.

Obviously, the recent layoffs of skilled workers has affected our snow removal services.

It has snowed almost constantly for 2 1/2 days. Give the guys working some slack. There are a lot of roads to be plowed and a lot of snow has fallen and they can't keep up. Same thing in other communities and on the interstates. Take a chill pill and relax please.

Snow removal is not their thing and essential services are no concern.

Frank Berriini is not up to the task. Get him out of there and get Kenny Stachulak back. At least he got the streets cleaned in a hurry! Even Allan Stevo will testify to that.

Feb 2011, 20" snow. Streets cleaned by nightfall. No one blames our hardworking Public Works employees. It is John Rita, the City Manager, who loves to cut jobs and create part time positions that is responsible for this mess

Trucks were not out new years day or after hours. No money to pay overtime but plenty of money for friends and family. Nobody is blaming Public Works employees.Poor management is to blame. Take a chill pill. If you are doing your job we will see you.

Then whats your explanation for not getting all the leaves picked up ? Did they fall all at once? Could they not keep up? Oak Lawn has by far the best snow removal in the south suburbs. B I needs to run trucks 2 tandem for main roads working from center out to curbs try it sometime .

It is snow removal not rocket science folks!

During snow storms allow parking on even side during daylight hours and odd after dark. Streets are cleared quickly and efficiently in 24 - 36 hours.
