At last night quick city council meeting, Mayor Vargas announced a ninety day cooling off period where no Department Head, or employee will be replaced, or fired. It appears difficult for him to make any decisions! It is quite one thing being a RUBBER STAMP Alderman, and another being Mayor.

Clean your ears or take a remedial lesson in listening. He did not say a " cooling off". he said he was giving all Department heads 90 days to straighten their acts out along with the employees serving in their department. After 90 days, heads start falling.
He should start with Jim Rial and Bob Adams..2 of the biggest money wasters in the city services. Both arrogant as hell and both with big mouths. Rial says the veterans of Blue Island will stand up to Vargas if he gets fired....really Jim? Thats not what I hear at the VFW.

Your on the right track. Actually bob Rita enjoys getting his beachside licked. He will demand every employee and elected person to do this or else, this is the same attitude his father displayed.

It is the same attitude Peloquin displays, but, he demands everybody lick his backside.

Will it take 90 days to verify who was endorsing the Rita/Vargas Party election before they release employees that weren't?

It didn't take long for Domingo Vargas to appoint junior alderman, Nancy Rita to be the chairman of the important financial committee. We all know who's really making the calls at city hall and it isn't Domingo Vargas.

This corruption happens when one family has.way to much power. Unfortunately we have not seen anything yet. It is coming, and we won t be happy.

Mr. Vargas is in a time warp. Let's face it, he has been in a time warp for twenty years while serving as Alderman. He will soon come to realize, this city will not be micro managed like Calumet Township.

Vargas is now the mayor we are asked to trust.

City hall is soaked in suspicions of lapsed ethics, good judgement, and epic failure.
There are so many unanswered questions involving money management, fiscal responsibility, accountability, and ethical misbehavior.

So much for public confidence in an election that was all about restoring public confidence and trust. The public is looking for the corrective action plan and this is no more than a just a bad way to start.

It is what it is. From Rita and Vargas, you will not get the cleansing affect so badly needed.

Riding around in taxpayers paid for automobiles, buds beside me at the wheel.
Overlooking what needs to be done, were just out having some fun.
Collecting a check gives the crew a little something to do.

This goes on, we thought old Blue Island had money problems.

The problem is everyone means well but nobody knows what the hell they are doing. The trees and shrubs are being planted without thinking about the future. If you are going to plant trees under powerlines plant trees that do not grow to large or in 10 years you have to butcher them to keep them away from the power lines. If you are going to plant trees in the little 4ft by 4ft openings like down on old western in 4 years they get rootbound and die. Not to mention the damage to the sewers. Veterans Triangle already needs to be thinned out to many plants were planted and the plants in front of the sign are already blocking it. No foresight, no leadership.

Brings new meaning to the phrase Hit the Ground Running. Domingo Vargas is Running alright, he is running away from making the hard decisions he promised he would make, in order to move this city forward. And the Alderman that ran with him, guess what they are doing exactly nothing. Professor Breems we are not a test tube!

City hall was over planted too. Where is the banner that says " we over planted"

Mr. Vargas has been in city council long enough to know what's what - like Obama now that he is in power the story changes - transparency becomes skull-duggery; appointments of friends, family and political dues take the place of qualified apppintments, money is spent that doesn't exist, ethics are mere buzz-wordds and the story continues ...

Now Blue Island is in Democratic socialist control and Vargas has to be the rubber stamp of Rita-Madigan-Quinn-Obama machine ...

And how is that any different than paloquins party. It actually sounds like your describing them. They have hired all of their cronies to work for the city, who are NOT qualified I might add. Most of all he left the city with a huge gaping deficit! Please explain your logic???
