Still waiting to hear 2nd ward Alderman Vierya has gotten the bridges opened.
She needs to provide a detailed report regarding the missing allocated funds for the ongoing care of those bridges. She been in office a very long time and has lots of explaining to do.

Who would even entertain the thought of this subject. What accomplishments as a alderman or even before being appointed has she done. How is it she was even heard of prior to her GIVEN the Aldermen seat a wild card pulled out of at an advocate of nothing. No block meetings.

We will excuse your blind ignorance. It has been quite evident Robert Rita insulates himself with buffers as you! Alderman Vierya is a member of a burgeoning class, and her being a female all the better. The 28th was designed to be African American District. But the Democratic party and through heavy handed tactics, Robert Rita has been able to get elected. Alderman Vierya has more experience than Robert Rita when he was first elected. You would be well advised to take this seriously. She would represent us all very well in Springfield.

This is without doubt, the most stupid and idiotic question & thread I have yet to read on this site. What moronic boob even suggested this subject? She will be lucky to even get re-elected. Vargas is no fool. Vierya is poison. She hardly worked for Vargas.

Alderman Vierya would be a great State Rep in Springfield. The above comment reveals how badly Illinois needs term limits.

Settlement of discrimination suit gives women second chance to become a Chicago firefighter

One hundred and 40 women who were denied a chance to enter the Chicago Fire Department Academy seven years ago will have the opportunity on Monday to reapply, under terms of a settlement of a class-action lawsuit filed against the city by women who said the “physical abilities test” formerly required for would-be firefighters discriminated against most female applicants, one of their lawyers said Saturday.

The women had passed a written test for entry but were rejected from becoming firefighters after failing the physical test.

The city has agreed to switch to a different test of physical ability that lawyers representing the women say is fairer and now in wide use.

“This is an amazing opportunity for women who were passed over for positions as firefighters because of the old test,” said Marni Willenson, one of the lawyers representing the women who filed the lawsuit.“We hope that word gets out so that all of the 140 women who are still interested in becoming firefighters know to report to the fire academy on Monday to start this process anew. We are confident that women in Chciago will show that they are fully capable of performing the job of firefighter.”

Bob Rita is a member of the OLD MENS CLUB who continue to put obstacles in front of Women bad Minorities. I would gladly support and work for Alderman Vierya for this one fact alone. Bob Rita must go!

The physical ability portion of the test had "NO SCORES AND NO BENCHMARKS" allowing for the wide spread abuse of power to exclude the women who wanted to be fire fighters.

The do-nothing caucus
53 lawmakers didn't vote for Illinois pension reform. Is yours on the list?

Bottom line: If your lawmaker voted "No," he or she voted to leave unsalvaged the miserable train wreck of state finances.

Here's the list of House members who, not having the guts, voted "No" or, even wimpier, "Present":

Daniel Beiser, Mike Bost, Dan Brady, Rich Brauer, Adam Brown, John Cabello, Kelly Cassidy, John Cavaletto, Linda Chapa LaVia, Katherine Cloonen, Jerry Costello, John D'Amico, C.D. Davidsmeyer, Will Davis, Anthony DeLuca, Laura Fine, LaShawn Ford, Mike Fortner, Esther Golar (voted "present"), Norine Hammond, Josh Harms, Chad Hays, Jay Hoffman, Eddie Lee Jackson, Lou Lang, Camille Lilly (voted "present"), Robert Martwick, Frank Mautino, Rita Mayfield, Mike McAuliffe, Charles Meier, Bill Mitchell, Don Moffitt, Brandon Phelps, Sandra Pihos, Raymond Poe, Robert Pritchard, Dennis Reboletti, Bob Rita, Wayne Rosenthal, Jim Sacia, Sue Scherer, Elgie Sims Jr., Mike Smiddy, Derrick Smith, Keith Sommer, Andre Thapedi, Mike Tryon, Mike Unes, Pat Verschoore, Larry Walsh Jr., Chris Welch and Ann Williams.

State Rep Bob Rita is doing the best he can. Unfortunately his best is not good enough. And the residents of his district suffer a little more, the residents of his Calumet township suffer a little more. But him and his Family who have the cushion county and state jobs. They are just fine.

He does not know it yet, but she can beat him and will beat him. He should have painted her address out of his district when he had the chance, it is to late now. As the Democratic Committeeman he should endorse her. This will be for the good of the Democratic party. He needs to realize, or someone should explain to him, that he is a dinosaur.

I recently found out that the natural progression of the Democratic party of Cook County has plans. The Honorable Bob Rita is currently being considered for a high level adviser for Governor Quinn. At the same time they would prefer he take charge of the Illinois Tollway. His understanding of Union contracts, and immense knowledge of construction projects, certainly puts him ahead of the pack.
