The problem is they all make a lot of money. The officers starting salary is $51000.00 a year. And Burge should have been at about 100.000. That's a lot of loot to just give up. So they're going to fight to the finish. But it looks like the finish is not that far away. BUt I'm sure they're learning a very good lesson. And that is that crime doesn't pay.
$51,000 to be the police in DOLTON!?!?!?! Don't sound like a great deal to me.

It will take less than two minutes to google it and look it up yourself but no it wasn't him somebody he later worked with in Harvey

Yal must be kidding! I know that if chief Burge arrested this woman he had just cause. And her daughters probably deserved it too. They probably wouldn't get on the ground fast enough or something. I don't know . But I'm sure Mr. Burge had every right to set all her things outside. You all don't know the whole story. Some women just won't follow orders when they're suppose too. In the words of Bernie Mack They gotta learn. They gotta learn. So lock em up Ronnie Lock em all up.
No you dont know that he arrested them for just cause and you will soon figure that out after this investigation is done. He's the chief not some rookie. A rookie would be fired for these accusations. When they took his gun and badge that was the clear he stepped in it. He will not beat this one. A chief with any kind of dignity would not go to his ex girls place and order someone arrested. It's a conflict of interest. If he was in the right he would've filed a complaint like everyone else. He's done.

Chief Burge has gotten out of worse messes than this. He likes controversy. That's why most people don't care when he looses. But he's no dummy. And if you think so just wait and see. This woman probably had it coming. Besides isn't he married? Why is she with a married man in the first place. So when your throwing blame be careful. Now I don't know about her daughters but certainly the girlfriend is no nun. no one should be arrested for no reason so, the daughters will probably end up rich. I heard the mayor had to call and release the daughter before it got any more out of hand. But they put her in a cell and there was never a charge on her so. I guess they'll ( the chief & the mayor) will have to explain that one soooo yeah!

I wish I could promise. I read what you wrote and you're right in a lot of things you said. It just bothers me. I didn't work so hard to end living like I'm in poverty after all that college and all those internships...coming home to a poorly lit, violent, and dangerous community with nothing but liquor stores and Food 4 Less to offer. I want to just about blot out that I ever lived here. I've lived in different towns, in state and out of state. This is the worst town I have ever lived in.

Yes it is bad. Then why don't we make some changes by voting for a new mayor this February! That's a start. After all Mr. Lewis has had a chance to make a difference for two terms and all that has happened is his friends and family have gotten rich. Why can't we see that? We need a new mayor and a new Chief of Dolton. that would be a start. let's get some of these bright kids out of college. And not the mayors kids. And let's make it a balance, Hispanic, white and black. This also creates a climate of trustworthiness. Because we all monitor each other a group that is divers is more likely to be more fair to all members. Election February

I had nothing to do with voting him in. I voted against every incumbent that ran except the clerk I think it was. I had low expectations for him and he has met them with flying colors. If Dolton does not make an effort to apply sound business practices and establish a reputation for professionalism and customer service...then I can't live here. I get more respect and courtesy from a mayor that I know, in a town that does not get my taxes.

I had no idea all of this was going on in my neighborhood. Everybody sleeping with everybody else. Doesn't matter if they're married, having children outside of their marriage, multiple girlfriends; this sounds like episodes of Jerry Springer. Perfect for a reality show named the "The Wives & Whores of the DPD & their Bastard Children."

As far as the corruption goes, I believe it. There appears to be a pattern going on here. Corruption, shakedowns and kickbacks.

DPD you have been exposed. Your worst enemy, the internet. When heads start rolling from the DPD to the other corrupt officers, lets hope they keep rolling all the way to other public offices (water dept., etc.) and get rid of all your family members, friends, girlfriends, wives and the rest of these idiots.

At least with Shaw we had a very well connected person who went to Springfield and brought dollars back to Dolton. There was only one Senator that brought back more money to his district than he did and that was his friend and senate president Emil Jones jr, AND YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT BECAUSE THIS IS ALL A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD! NEW FIRESTATION EQUIPTMENT, NEW POLICE CARS,A NEW HEALTH CLUB AND MONEY FOR THE DOLTON PARK DISTICT ALL BROUGHT TO YOU BY A MAN THAT EVEN AFTER FOUR YEARS YOU CONTINUE TO DEMONIZE IN DEATH.
Even though I did not know the man personally, because I was a Dolton resident I went to his memorial services and what I saw and heard from every important black and white elected official was story after story of how this man had either helped them or gave them their start. Even private citizens like Frank Clark, President of Commonwealth Edison came and told the story of how Mr. Shaw organized a series of marches on the west side of Chicago 40 years ago demanding that qualified blacks be promoted to management positions at Com Ed. As a result of those marches Frank Clark was promoted out of the mail room and ultimately became the Chairman of the Board of Com Ed (Exelon). Once again all a matter of public record!
They even read a statement from President Obama thanking Shaw for his many contributions and 50 years of public service so, SHOULD I BELIEVE YOU OR PRESIDENT OBAMA!

Shaw died 11/28/08 Obama won the election 11/4/08. He was still a US Senator when Shaw died, first off. Second ANYONE can contact their senator and request a statement for special events or people. I have seen people get them for their 100th birthday. Let me help you out with something...someone else writes it and someone else signs it most times. I worked for a senator before. Unless you have too, let's just go with my experience on this one.

Burge is full of it. Ronnie Lewis retarded ass should have never brought him back after Shaw fired him. Anybody who know Burge know he crooked and hopefully he will finally serve some time when the Feds get thru with there investigation. Not only him but Lacey, Spigolon and maybe Blaundin but he might trick on everybody so he won't go to jail. The good ole city of Dolton.

Wow. Nept0ism at its best.

I suggest you citizens each take a minute to call the Federal Dept. of Justice and demand they do an internal investigation on the chronic hiring of unqualified people hired by friends and relatives.

The FEDS need to straighten out the books, the conduct and qualifications of these relatives and friends hired by patronage only.

I was told not one hired by the new mayor even knows how to patch a street or work on sewers, and the books are scammed. Somebody step up to the plate. Not since the white folks left has this town even maintained their streets and storefronts.

Corruption is an everyday word since the whites left. Do you know I actually lived in Dolton most of my life and when I drive past my old family house and former neighbor's homes, it looks like a war zone. It's so sad - we had a great town growing up and now nothing left fit for dogs to live in.

It looks like a war zone.

The village of Dolton needs a mayor who has the values of George Bailey not Mr. Potter.
