RUMOR RUMOR Dolton has: secretaries who only typed notices of death. Official who golfs all spring, summer and eary fall. P W official who farms in Momencee daily instead of doing Dolton, Fire official who has taken 3 weeks vacation ALREADY THIS YEAR, official who is off sick 3 day out of five and taken 3 weeks vacation too. Dolton has and 82 year old guard who recently had a heart attack returned to work making $15 hours. WHY when our young is struggling and looking for work. Dolton paid an attorney $15K a month, for real but could not get code book done for just $25k why is that. There is no discipline in Dolton.
Mayor Rogers you got your work cut out for you. I will support you in any manner possible PROVIDING you are on the right track. Gods speed.

I complain about my tax bill everyday! Remember when Riley was first elected & had that meeting at the Dorchester to reduce taxes? He hasn't done that since! PLUS my taxes have almost doubled since then!!
He has no authority to reduce taxes on his own. Tell me what he was supposed to do to reduce your taxes.

People will hate me saying this but I totally disagree that we should have residency requirements for employment. It has not helped us so far. To suggest that the best candidates for any job live in this small town is ludicrous. To expect that the best candidates will move here, for what is probably not a competitive salary, is not realistic. We can say "well if you want to work for Dolton.." but trust me when I say we'll lose that one. Working for Dolton is not going to be a highlight on your resume unless you did some big, game changing stuff. You will only limit your candidate pool when you insist that people should live here. Towns two and three times our size don't have residency requirement.

Good Luck and Congratulations Mayor Rogers!!

You will need a new broom, an old broom, a dustpan, a pitchfork, many big dump trucks, a shovel, no maybe a big coal scoop, to clean up all that poop left by Shaw and Lewis.

Good Luck.

Obviously he can't reduce taxes on his own. However, he worked for the Cook County Board of Review & had an inside track on that. Commissioner Shaw did the same exact thing for residents years ago.

Ummm Brother Democracy...did you not read the new Dolton Sentinel paper? The police chief is John Franklin. Burge was gone before you typed your comments that he must go (wink)

So S &P lowered Doltons bond rating AFTER Riley was elected. Could it have anything to do with Dolton electing a person with no permanent address and who has filed bankruptcy 4 times to be mayor if our village? Just asking.

It is indeed going to be a daunting task to clean up Dolton. I don't think we will get any help with the property taxes though. Since, according to our new mayor, the financial situation is so bad, they are looking for ways to increase revenue. Don't be surprised if they raise the property taxes even more.
