A privileged, spoiled, overpaid, dishonest, self-serving, phony, manipulative, and self-entitled couple. Why are people feeling sorry for them??? These are the kind of corrupt people who are destroying the country. They need to go to jail.
It is discouraging to know that many other privileged people who are part of the government gravy train are getting away with this stuff. How many are getting away with this stuff?? And our taxes keep climbing.
They should be sent over to keep Blago company

You must be naive or brainwashed or something. He is exactly the type to do this sort of thing. Maybe he wasn't a decade or two ago but people change. How do you explain him continuing to draw money from one account when he was having the family's only income deposited into another? The Bank Fairy was replenishing it? He knew what he made, how do you explain the spending? How ethical are you if you are accepting a salary for a job and hardly ever show up to work? What a fine example for subordinates. How ethical are you when you use a City vehicle to haul your kids all over within and even outside the State? How ethical are you when you refuse to have the vehicle marked so that it is readily identifiable as a City vehicle because you know you are misusing it? I may be wrong, but I think it's an ordinance that all City vehicles have to be marked as such. How ethical are you when you use fire department resources that are basically owned by the taxpayers for a lacrosse tournament simply because your position allows you to. How ethical is it to try to pressure people into buying sweatshirts and things they don't want? How ethical is it to not deliver said items after they were paid for?(The fine people with SAK did rectify this) Honestly, I don't think Michelle was capable of thinking up this "elaborate" scheme on her own. He is saying he didn't know because he doesn't know what the SA has. Clearly they have more than anyone knows otherwise why the different charges? I think he has opened the door for Michelle to cut a deal with his denial. She can take ownership for her actions and tell them anything they don't know and get a reduced sentence. I really feel bad for you people who they tricked, I can't imagine how disappointing it is to be deceived by someone you trust, but that is what con artists do. Is it just me or in the mugshots does she looks devastated and he looks defiant, angry and arrogant?

He looks pissed because he got caught. He absolutely knew about it. If someone dropped 350,000 into my account, I would know. He looks mad because "rumor" has it, he was tipped off by someone at the PD, and didn't know when the shoe would drop. You can bet your ass the special unit, that does this for a living at the Sheriffs Office, has every deposit, withdraw, balance inquired with all of their accounts documented. There should be more info on the 6th, their next court date. I see bonds coming. The shock and awe of the holidays behind bars is passing. If the charges stand, it's mandatory jail time. But they post likely will plea deal for lesser charges, no jail, restitution. However, they are ruined.

They knew it was coming, look how much they've aged in the last couple months. And they just happen to delete their fb accounts right before their arrest. I hope they find out who tipped him off & he gets disciplined. Everything was in order before the arrests, he can say what he wants, but how do you not know you have an extra $350,000.00??

I doubt that deleting his Facebook account was really on his mind when he saw his attorney. It was gone already, maybe so there aren't any pictures to be used against them. Or just so people can't go all thru their lives.

I don't know if they knew that far in advance. I was thinking it was the morning of. Have to give them credit though, it was a classy move waiting until the kids went to school. Good call. Are you sure they deleted their accounts? Would be easy enough for the lawyer or a family member to do. I can't believe someone would tip them off. Why?

Hope it was worth it to whomever did it. Maybe they can be cell mates. Thought prisoners didn't like cops in jail, what were they getting that they are willing to risk this for? Surprised nothing has broke on this yet. Wonder what the hold up is? Potential bargaining chip for Charlie? Since he was so willing to through his wife under the bus this person can't be feeling safe.

Wrong. Charlie fooled you and he is a self serving scum bag. The Writing is on the wall. Maybe when all the truth gets out, even you will realize that this man sucks. We need to find the other Charlie's out there and put them in jail as well.

Blago was a Federal Rap and is housed in a Federal Prison.

The Sopko's charges are State.

Cook County Jail and the Illinois State Prison System is no place for non-streetwise white folks.

They would trade places with Blago in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Spoko is the Maytag Boy at the County. The Maytag Boy washes the underwear belonging to the Gangbangers who probably treat him like a punk bitch.

I heard he is tucked away safely in a VIP section at the jail. High level public officials are a public relations nightmare and are watched closely while incarcerated awaiting trial.

At first I was upset, VIP section? So even while in custody he's getting special treatment, but I guess there is no alternative, they have a right to be kept safe.

When you have a cash business (something like a beer or food concession or carnival) is is much easier than lying on payroll. That's why all the towns around here hold festivals. It gets even harder to trace when the only oversight being done is by the elected officials in charge. How much money has been skimmed out of your towns festivals? Think about how easy it is.
