I believe DCS has a tuition policy. Does anyone know for sure? I think unless you are a child of a staff member, you are supposed to pay tuition. If not, it needs to be done now to protect the Dolgeville taxpayers. I think it's great that people want to send their kids here, but then I also think that they should live here and pay taxes here or pay tuition and transport your kid.

Per the DCS there is no tuition for out of district students. However you must provide your own transportation.

I pay taxes here in Dolgeville and we have kids out of district that walk in and get same services as my kids without having any monetary contribution. We SHOULD have tuition.

Also I hear OE is merging with sports next year with us. Why would we take them and pay for their sports?

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE !!!!!

the taxpayers here have way more than enough on their plates to pay for.

out of district? then you pay.

want to use our facilities? merge sport programs? make them pay.

why not let our kids join , the state gives you more money for every student in your building, we only really hurt you if our student has special needs. We also have to transport our own children to your school. We can make your teams better and your band will be great with our kids.

Name one kid from OE that ever was an All-state or even All-League? Also we would have to jump a class to play.

Want to come here either move here or pay tuition. I don't want my kids in larger classes where the teacher has more kids and mine (which I pay taxes) has to sit and wait for help.

I happen to be a supporter of the merger with ST. J. I want all of the people who voted NO to the merger to look at the reception we get from DCS. At St. J we were treated as equals, Two schools both facing difficult budgetary problems with a possibility to join together, create something new and not have to deal with this animosity. Now due to your misguided vote based on misinformation and personal biases this is what we face.
At the last budget hearing at OE no decisions were made but we still face an $879,000 shortfall and it was discovered that the board president [without any support from other members of the board} had already talked to several members of the Dolgeville Bd of Education about the possibility of tuitioning out OE's 9-12 students. Way to save the BAND folks. Not only that but if it happens you lose control over all school policies with your 9-12. WHY? You don't vote for Dolgeville Board members. Calm Down... try to work out the financial problems facing us next year. Rethink the possibilities of merger between OE and St. Johnsville. Work together to try to stay a viable school without merging , but stop looking to DCS to save us or our kids, Remember how they treated you last time we considered it.

I have personally heard several St. J teachers and two different school board members saying derogatory remarks about O-E. Please do not tell me that St. J considered us as equals. Those type of remarks, only show me how very ignorant and low class you really are, and maybe we are better of without you.

umm close call that goes both ways..... there is a form on here where people were calling stj kids "greasy whale splatter", druggies and drunks and a couple other things. We had merged sports where the kids were getting along. Dcs dont want you guys! dont see why you keep running to them, you all say your school will survive without the merge so why you all turning to dcs for help now??? I would hate for you guys to lose your identity..... blue and white hawks til ya close!

Well close call...Maybe they became enraged when they heard several OE BD members say inappropriate comments and mistruths based on their own biases and agendas. I still maintain the OE and St. J would have been the better merge. Unfortunately, that did not occur due to the lack of leadership on the part of several OE Board members. After the last budget meeting where they all showed up the public may be able to see some of their true colors. Since the Board voted on the Dec. Budget meeting which was a no show by several members... I do not understand why they did not attend. What did they not want the public to know? Upcoming meetings may show us the path they hope to take. Let the Public beware... attend, do your civic duty and find out what may happen to our school next year.

OE or any outside of district student who chooses to attend at Dolgeville, which is an open school district, must provide their own transportation to and from school. The school is remimbursed for their attendance by increased state aid. As for changing sports classifications upward, this just wouldn't happen as Dolgeville is far enough down in enrollment that adding outside students would create no such changes. I for one would welcome OE students into our district, the entire 9 - 12 student body would assimilate into the school without any need for additional modifications to our facilities. I say let them become 'Blue Devils'!!! Oh, and yes I am also a TAXPAYER for many, many years.

It's not that OE kids are not welcome here. I happen to be a product of the Stratford annexation and made many friends and had many more opportunities because of it. That being said, you are wrong about this being an "open" district. It is a public district, with geographic boundaries for tax puroposes. We cannot simply accept every student that wants to attend our school. Eventually it is a drain on the taxpayers. It DOES cost to educate even with state aid, which is being slashed every year. I could care less about sports- that's not even an issue. I also say that talk, at least on here, is cheap. What we should be doing is calling our BOE members and our Superintendent and voicing our opinions. We should also attend the next board meeting.

Make a call to the Dolgeville Superintendent, you will find that Dolgeville is an 'Open District' allowing any student to attend under the 'Open District' rules.

Old alum is 100% correct. Many OE students are already coming to Dolgeville. I believe this trend will continue. The OE district will not exist in two years at this rate.

The Dolgeville Superintendent should NOT have her job!! I was in the office one day and over heard her telling other people about a family using there names and telling them about things that should never have been said..The children she was talking about where in elementary school and in the end of it she degrated them even more by saying they were never going to mount to nothing and get no where in life!! Who the hell does she think she is? Thats what I call a great Mentor!!
