I dont think is fair that people with swimming pools pay the same for their water bills. They are filling their pools with water from the village and are using hundreds of gallons of water and pay the same as homes that don't. There should be a fee for pool users.

Isn't it based on your water usage? If they use their water to fill their pools then wouldn't they use more water than the average home owner and pay more because they use more? I think your post is stupid.

Dolgeville homes do not have water meters like most towns. Everyone is charged one flat rate. So the burden of exsessive water users, people with pools, is spread out among everybody. I believe the flat rate charged should be lowered for all and the pool owners should pay more. I believe this not only to be "not stuid" but fair!

IF the water is plentifull then why should a pool owner pay more? What if your the neighbor of the pool owner and your house catches fire, would not be nice to know there is a source of fire protection next door? If you owned a pool do you want to pay more?

No, pool owners should not pay more. They buy equipment for the pool, and special floats / toys, etc, and the sales of those items puts more tax money into the coffers. Some of those who don't have pools are not buying enough merchandise to support the community. Be thankful for the stability and purchasing power of the pool owners, and the fact the pools increase the property values unlike pool-less homes where many of those owners do nothing positive to help property values.

The water is not free. We pay a fixed rate on total village usage. Why should all pay for the exsessive use of others.Like anything else, You should pay for what you use. not what your neighbor uses.

I agree. I do not think its a bad idea to charge pool owners an extra free based on the amount of gallons of water thier pool holds. If it will keep the water cost down, why not. You should pay for what you use.

That has nothen to do with the water they use. If they can afford to buy the equipment then they should have no problem with paying for the water they use. They dont get the equipment for free, why should they be able to get all that water for free!

Last I knew havig a pool decreased the value of your home! It makes it harder for resale because of the high cost of maintaning a pool. Which includes paying for water useage.

Wait your lawn is bigger than mine thus more lawn waste, you need to pay higher taxes. Wait you just painted your house, who cares that it looks better, you need to pay more taxes because you just raised property values in out neighborhood. Wait you yard frontage is longer than mine so it takes the village 15 seconds longer to plow the side walks in front of your house than mine you should pay more in taxes because of fuel cost. Sounds like some people don't like that their neighbors have a pool. Even in a time of drought Dolgeville has plenty of water but because you don't have a pool and someone else dose they should pay more. I bet you a million gallons of water that if people that had pools paid more for water you taxes would not go down. When was the last time taxes went down in this state period. What a joke!!

Oh no, that is just wrong. Check with a reputable realtor. We wouldn't consider buying a home without a pool. Neither should you.

And another thing, some people have 4 kids bathing every day, some have none. Do you want them to pay more for water?

should we charge those who have washers extra also ya ding a aling, wait the pool owners most def have washers...probably the expensive kind though that dont use large quantities of water. so i think we should give the pool owners a break on the water bill cause they probably conserve water by not standing under the shower to cool down or run a sprinkler to run under or better yet the fancy smancy slip n slide. damn foo

We should have water meters, how do we know we aren't already paying more then we should. If we had water meters, like most towns, then people filling pools, and watering yards, and bathing 10 kids, would be charged more. But nope dolgeville is stuck in the 1800's and doesn't care that the town they live in screw them yearly by over charging them! Go 429'ers!

the water tax is NOT that much- you would prolly pay more if there were water meters!!!!!! Plus they are gonna hafta raise the taxes to pay for the meters to be put in & pay someone to read them!!!! quit complaining!!!!!
