Why is it that our 18 wheelers can't
slow down some? I have seen them on the wrong side of the road coming around curves, and speed somthing awful.

those truckers should only be able to do 65m.p.h.on state and federal hiways in there own lanes only it should be they cant come over in the car lanes at all but this is just my opinion.

It is ture that they need to slow down.

Nathan Swim - Obviouslly you are not from here becuase the speed limit on all 2 lane roads both state and federal in Louisiana is 55. There is still alot of unknowns in this accident. Its possible something medically could have happened to cause the wreck. Its to soon to tell.

If you have ever driven around there, you know its very unlikely he was going over 65. there is absolutely no shoulder and the roads are extremely NARROW. It's extremely unfortunate. LA needs to put priority on their roads. The driver of the car and his fiance are expecting a baby any day. Keep the family in your prayers.

You must be from around here either, if you've ever been on hwy 34 and met on of those trucks you'd know that they do drive all over the road and speeds in excess of 65 mph.

You must be from around here either. If you've ever been on hwy 34 between Joyce and Monroe, them Kervin trucks drive all over the road at speeds well in excess of 65 mph

Have any of you folks ever drove a 18-wheeler before.. Don't forget if you haven't you have about 50,000 lbs. behind you pushing while you are trying to stop for some jerk in a 4 wheeler who has pulled out in front of you.Kervin truck's run from Dodson to Campti and also to Zwolle so that is highways 167,84,6, and 171..Bad mistake on ur part for identifying the wrong highway and trucking firm and yes I do drive a truck so LOOK Out, here I come!!!!!!!!!!

The trucking company involved was Servico owned by the Askin family. If you ever met the Askin's you would know what assholes they are and what kind of junk they have on the road. I feel sorry for both families involved. The poor guy that worked for Servico was paid so little that he has to drive as fast as he can to make a living and I'm sure something happened to the junk he was driving. I hope the family of both parties involved in the accident sue the crap out of the Askin family.

with that heavy of a load on your truck yall really need to slow do. So what you loggers get paid by the load. If you run over someone you are not going to get that next load. We in little cars are allowed on the dang roads as much as yall trucks. Do everone a faver and drive slower. If not for your safty for everyone elses.

Hwy 34 should be closed down. My daughter was on her way home from ULM last year and was run off the top of a hill by an 18 wheeler in the center of the road. She ran off the road on her side, over-corrected and flipped twice onto the other side of the road, ending up between two trees upside-down with her hair hanging down through the moon-roof. Thank God she had her seat belt on.

She ended up near a cross marking the site where a friend of hers was killed the previous year.

She was very lucky, but the 18 wheelers have no mercy on that road. Protect your children and keep them off 34.

By the way, the truck never stopped.

ok the driver of the 18 wheeler was in his 70s and was 4 feet over the center line. why would he be that far over and why in the hell would they let a man in his 70s drive a truck as dangerous as an 18 wheeler?

Yeah it should be closed down, it's the most dangerous road in Winn Parish I think. Thank God I don't live out there anymore, I have children that drove that road everyday to school etc. Now we go through Jonesboro, Ruston to go to Monroe.

I here their gonna straighten all the curves out. Yeah we'll see.

its not the road that is dangerous. its the idots that are driving on it. i drive that road every day to work all the way to monroe. yes the road is curvy but that is what the brakes are for. yes some of the chip trucks do drive like they own the road, but so do alot of regular vehicles. once again i say its the drivers not the road.

You are probably smarter than you sound. I drove a chip truck on that road for 4 years and it is dangerous. If you say it is not, you must be blind. Also, the big trucks are not the only ones needing to slow down. GO ride with a driver buttwipe and count the times they have to slam their brakes for a idiot in a car that has no clue.
