A democracy is always temporary in nature: it simple cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority will always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy,(which is) always followed by a dictatorship.

....Don't worry...this was written a ong time ago.
It coudn't possiby happen here.

The advent of indoor plumbing had a great deal to do with the very "American" invention of massive "Tract Housing". Traditionaly, "Nice" houses had seperate facilities for cooking, bathing and personal hygene. Indoor plumbing was a "cost cutting" measure. "Flush toiets",however, represent one of the greatest mile stones in civilization.

Should we,as a nation, decide to continue our experiment with redistribution of income then I can assure you that,in very short order, we will not have a pot to piss in.

"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

"It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself."

"Leave no authority existing not responsible to the people."

"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."

"It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own."

Sincerely,
Thomas Jefferson

I know it's poor Topix ettiquite to post comment after comment without waiting for others to respond....but....

I just got moved to an "office job" and I'm trying to look busy without actually doing anything productive.

....so...a very tiny portion of your hard earned tax dollars are now being diverted into creating and posting these right-wing, nut-job rantings! Kinda warms yur heart don't it???

Congrats on the desk job. I find it allows much more time for the pursuit of happiness.....regarding messing with forums.

Of course I have been outside working on my boat house which has seriously impacted my ability for response.
Soon, I will be back to "my" boring desk job and can resume practicing the fine art of organizing morons.
Maybe I need to take a day and see what they are doing?

Funding your exploits in this forum do give me that warm and fuzzy feeling I normally only get when April the 15th rolls around.

Your in the mountains...how about a ski chalet?
Or a rock boarding chalet?

But I have to ask.....does having a boat house mean I have to get a boat?

We haven't quite finnished the water-boarding chalet yet. It's a skill event, musn't be done with strength alone....very subtle.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Virgo

Luckily, you're less susceptible to people leaning on you today, but there's still a chance that someone might try to take advantage of your good nature. It's so darn difficult to stand up to them, partly because you genuinely want to help if you can, and partly because you don't want to be seen in a bad light. But you don't want to be seen as a doormat either, do you?
