I remember very few snow days. What we had in my hometown were "no buses running" days. Usually if the weather was real bad and slick or something, then the bused students would get out because the buses wouldn't run, or on some days they would just run late due to the roads. But they cancelled school because of the weather so seldom I don't remember them. We walked to school (I walked about a mile) in the snow that now causes them to cancel school. Our kids are being raised to be "whiners". Look at all the parks that had play ground equipment that was good enough for us all our childhood, now they are replacing everything so the kids don't get hurt. Just seems like overkill. Kids are going to get dirty and they are going to get hurt, it's called childhood!

I tend to agree. I donít remember very many ďsnow daysĒ at all. I do recall trudging through a foot of snow, or more, many times. I walked almost a mile to grade school.
Although I am all in favor of doing what we can to see to it that kids donít get hurt, I wonder if anyone remembers what a scab is anymore. I recall having a few that were like shingles on a roof. Iím not saying we bring back Lawn Darts but good grief is it really necessary to wear all these helmets and pads??
