Angelique Memet, Lisa Grisham, Dewayne Teague and Josh Reed are the ones who lost their lives that day. May they all rest in peace!

Please keep your rude comments off of this thread. This tragedy on July 2, 1993 affected so many people and changed so many lives!

That was a horrible summer for the whole county. I had gone off to school but my best friend graduated that year. 8 WC teenagers lost their lives that spring and summer (4 in the explosion and 4 others in 3 car wrecks). He said it felt like the end of the world was here. Still to this day he uses the expression "That's as bad as the summer of '93"

I only know half of them (not very well)- the ones. Who lost their lives and the once who got hurt. It is was sad and devastating. I cried and it really hurt like i had known each of them all my life. So tragic!!! Unbelievable :(

Thinking of the ones who were killed that day and their famines. All the survivors and first responders are in my thoughts and prayers. This week is always rough.

God recreated that scene last night with lightening. Lest we forget, we will be reminded of who is in charge and it is not us. Prayers for the survivors that they realize God has a purpose for them and all of us.

It affects me every day! Lost my uncle in the coal mines then 3 years lost my cousin almost the same way. Now my aunt is gone ! Now there are all together and I can see josh smiling and finally at peace. Worst summer of my life.

Unless the lightning hit an almost empty oil tank that was full of fumes, made it explode, made it take off like a rocket with at least two people on top, throwing one guy straight up in the air then back down in the pool of oil, dropping a girl off in pieces in a tree 200 yards away, with the tank traveling 1/4 mile away, and everybody on the ground getting blasted with flaming oil from head to toe, then no, that scene wasn't recreated.

People who can shrug this scene off as "everything happens for a reason" makes me cringe. It's simple physics people. Somebody wasn't thinking and they stuffed a lit cigarette in a metal cylinder that was full of explosive fumes. Has nothing to do with anything supernatural.
