@Assumption...Rose Rita, who recently passed away was the Calumet Township Supervisor, not Bobby. I do not know who the new Supervisor is.

If you honestly believe she was running the place then that's your opinion. Why hasn't a replacement been named yet?

No matter what my opinion is at least I know our Mayor was elected to represent and guide Blue Island to the best of his abilities. The Township Supervisor was rarely at the senior center once elected.

In this and age a physical presense is not nessary. This is not a day to day operation. many things are planned ordered months in advance. Rose Rita was voted in by the voters she was the voters choice.

I agree. That's why my initial answer was "I assume Bobby is still running the place."

Unfortunately she was. The center is open daily so by your logic an elected official doesn't physically have to appear in their office that much. There is planning going on continuously. The menu has strict guidlines to adhere to through the state and signatures are required often etc. The previous administration was visible and it was run more efficiently. The last election was more of a Democratic political dispute then anything else in my opinion. That's why the growing trend of the people around the state is to eliminate townships and the financial burden it is on tax payers when its functions could be consolidated.

1) I would like to ask the candidates what they are going to do about the unsolved murder of the 74 year old man a few years ago at the hand of the Blue Island officer?

2) What about the drowning of the Calumet Township worker at the Memorial Ppark pool found floating the next day after a party attended by the Calumet Township employees including Bilotto and the topless employee

3) What they plan to do about the bridges that are in disrepair and the potholed streets

4) what about all the gangbangers that are up and down Western Avenue and cat-call passerbys?

5)the underage kids that frequent bars especially on Old Western Avenue and are served and the ones that are out after their curfew? I think their parents should be fined.

6) Bringing in more diversity stores that are not only of hispanic in nature (I am a hispanic myself)that don't even sell English papers?

7) the hiring of these establishments of only hispanic workers and the advertisements that are only put up in spanish in these stores?

8) Holding the leaders of these gangs responsible for the actions of their members and identifying their leaders

9) Having these organizations ( gangs )register as a social or community group to keep track of their "legal" income and having all those with felony records register with the police department and alert the neighborhood where they reside of their presence.

10) Monitoring the bars that serve and cater to underage kids that are in reality gang members and fining the owners. Historic Blue Island comes to mind

11) the efforts to try not to make Blue Island into a fine upstanding town like Harvey, Robbins, or Calumet Park

Wonder how many Calumet Township incumbents would withdraw if the pay wasn't available or if there where term limits.

"Village of Niles, Term Limits Petition"
"Shall the Village of Niles enact term limits prohibiting all people from serving more than 16 years on the Village of Niles Board of Trustees, including service as President/Mayor of the Village and Village Board, effective immediately upon approval and passage of this binding referendum?"

FYI Tonight June 26, 2014 7 p.m. Calumet Township Government monthly meeting 126th Ashland ave. Come to see how senior statesman Calumet Township Supervisor, State Rep 28th district, Democratic Committeeman, Bob Rita and his demeanor towards concerned citizens. If you attend you will witness the Trustees who are paid $14,000.00 annually refuse to answer your questions. You will see the Township Clerk lie to the concerned citizens.

Enzo Berrini , a Blue Island part time building inspector is maintaining the overgrown forclosed homes around town. A no bid contract to contractors to maintain them was handed out by John Rita & mayor Vargas. Not only a conflict of interest but Berrini is using Calumet townships lawn eguipment straight out of the wood street Rams field to maintain theses homes while being paid....
