So, as a new resident here ... "Shop Historic Blue Island" seems to be a slogan on city signs ... What's historic ... And where is there to shop ??

How many of us go to Iversons for donuts then go to Dunkin Donuts for coffee? Iversons needs to get a real coffee machine and put Dunkin Out of Business!

Tom should start "Believe Bus Tours"
An open roof dbl deck tour bus to view this wonderful historic town.
Start form the Jewel lot there is plenty of room for parking, then head north past the OLD gas station while informing guests how cool it was in it's day. Drive past all the empty lots to show where all the OLD car dealerships and body shops use to be. Head thru our famous Mc Donalds for a cool drink and head south for the real historic show pieces..
Tourist's will then love to view some of our side streets.
Take special attention to all the dead trees in the parkways, and trash and debris littered about. Head by our highly decorated Meadows Golf course for a noon sip, if lucky to tour on a Wednesday morning you may get a peek at several of our city heads along with police and Cook County State's Attorney playing for free.

Then Tom can head up to the abandoned building at 119th and Vincennes where bus riders can throw a complimentary rock through the already smashed out windows. Then visit the pool at Memorial Park where the illegal party - hosted by Mr Billotto - resulted in a death which was quickly covered up. Then down to the Acme Refining site where, on a windy day, riders on the top deck will be covered in the toxic dirt that blows from the facility. Don't be afraid, just cover you face with your Blue Island scarf.

Chronically misspent Blue Island taxpayer dollars have created the monstrous debt with elected leaders fully engaged in follower mentality. Nothing and no thing has been accomplished in a well thought out plan full manner. We know all to well; "Who Done It".

bottom line we need real leadership and not crony politicians only taking care of themselves. Vargas was Mayor pro tem for how long ? On the city council for how long ? And the Rita's have helped this city how ??? Time to clean house if this town has a chance ....

A few? Have you been reading Topix? The majority of Blue Island is fed up with the BIIP.
Inexperience and incompetence is all I see.
