Where did hockey mom scurry off to?

She sure had a lot (of ignorant things) to say - until public opinion turned against her on this thread.

But now she's suddenly MIA ...

She's probably in hiding cuz she's too scared to show herself on here now.

Good job Amen.

The oak forest school administration is so concerned about getting a reputation for negative things happening in their school and community that they spend a lot of time hiding things from the public. We the public know more than they think we know. We hear about a lot of things that go on in that school that should not go on and they need to be addressed. Too many cellphones and too much music in the classrooms. During class time kids are texting, listening to music and on the social media when they should be doing class work. Read the school handbook, this is allowed. This is approved by the administration. Wake up people and smell the coffee. Your children (white children) have some of the same problems and troubles as the black kids. The only difference is the black children live it and the white kids hide it.

School board meeting today @TPHS 7pm may prove to be interesting. The removal of a board member is on the agenda. http://bhsd228.schoolwires.net/cms/lib6/IL010...

@ concerned for Illinois what does white or black have to do with anything ? And if you want to throw race in why is that in black schools or minority schools ( where I come from ) in the inner city the high schools pass the kids who never show up or have an excuse and here in the suburbs if your kid is late the school calls ? Why is it fair that in the city kids get to move on to high school and nor even know how to multiply ? And as far as white kids hiding it hiding what ? Mayne if you would look around and see past race and we as a community didn't look at color income etc we could help each other kids mimic what they see if you ignore your kids they ignore you if you allow them to talk back they will . Everyday we learn something new as a parent . Would you like ofhs Sri put in metal detectors and have our children carry clear backpacks ? Mayne we should have them wear uniforms however we should not blame the school for our parentinf and by you making this a racial thing we are teaching our children ignorance love has no color . Once again we lost 2 children ans we need to show our kids how not to be judgmental . I can sure say ofhs is a good school better than most better than sharing books and having no air conditioning better than school shootings and gangbangers . Yes the maybe texting or listening to music but If that's all than we have it good . And before you throw the drug card out there drugs are everywhere have you seen these kids Facebook's listened to the radio or watched tv ?

It was 2 teenagers from ofhs that have committed suicide in the past week. Sad as it is the Highschool is refusing to acknowledge either of these suicides. The teenagers of the Highschool are in desperate need of grief counseling and if the high school can't handle it someone needs to step in and get these kids help. this is getting out of control two kids in less than a week someone needs to stand up and tell the school to get these kids help Before more follow the same path.
i am very close to the junior at ofhs who has committed suicide and there is something much deeper than the community and high school are addressing. these kids are playing with dark people and parents and teachers need to address this asap. for there was another attempt this past monday, but i do believe this time the girl was found and saved, thanks be to God.

I do not know either of these students, but I do agree with your statement. Parents, educators, counselors all need to talk, really talk, to the children. There are some, as you say, dark, dark people in this world today, and they take advantage and scare these young people. I don't know if drugs were involved at all in either of these cases, but society needs to react to the influence that drugs and EVERYTHING that comes along with them has on an individual and their family and friends. The drug situation now is HORRIBLE. These young people need people they can truly trust to go to in their time of need, someone who won't judge them, but will guide them and help them. So the state has cut off funding for programs like DARE, have schools, beginning with grade schools, supplemented that?? We owe it to the children to teach them about these terrible influences early on, so they can make informed, good, sound decisions and not give into temptations and peer pressure. It does take more than 'say no to drugs,' we need to instill good, strong values in our children.
No matter what the problems were that these young people felt drove them to their decisions, the schools need to tackle this subject, as well as parents. Don't put a black cloud over these kids and label them "troubled." Yes, they were troubled, but they, as well as any one of our children, need guidance and a safe person to turn to.

I am just amazed at some of these comments. To assume bullying is crazy. To sit behind a computer and say bullying is occurring isn't going to help. The school and police need to be made aware. To say its poor parenting is ridiculous for reasons already stated. Are there parents that could be more involved absolutely. Who has the ability to make them. For those stating that they do know what's going on with their children and saying the school needs to of something, what would you have them do that they aren't? Did you know your child was instructed on topics of suicide, substance abuse and bullying? We have a facility right here in town, paid for by tax dollars, Bremen Youth Services, they are trained to counsel children why did they not step up and do something? They, most likely would be a better resource than the school as this is their sole responsibility, counseling "troubled" kids.

As a parent of a 11 year old, I would like to know what you mean by "dark people"? What exactly are these people doing to these kids and how? You, their peers, know more than parents ever will and you are in a position to help others, maybe save a life! Is it drugs, bullying, sexual assault? Help us help them. And I am sorry for your loss. Suicide is traumatizing. Most of the time there are no answers and those involved are left asking questions that cannot be answered like why? Get some help for yourself. Just talk to somebody so your not alone with it.

It was a suicide pact. Many kids signed it but only a few committed suicide before it was known what they were doing. Many kids that didn't even want to be involved were part of the pact

Just curious what prompted this thread to be dug up today. I came across some buzz earlier today on twitter, is your post somehow related to another incident?

Wrong.

It was not a suicide pact. One of the kids had a pact to end it all with one of her friends - when they turned 27 ("like Kurt Cobain") if their lives weren't going like they wanted them to at that time.

That was at least 10 years off.

I got this from a student at the high school who knew one of the girls who committed suicide.

Where did you get your information?

Are you just passing off "what you heard" as fact?

You got it right though. People repeating what their neighbor's ex girlfriend's brother's uncle said and are getting the story all messed up. Can't believe people are putting this on the school either. Sounds to me like they are saying the school should know their kid better than they do. If someone thinks they have information about some pact I'm sure they called the school to give them a heads up right? It's still pretty distressing that kids are pre planning suicide for ten years in the future, but how much parenting do we want the schools to do? I can parent my kid, if your worried about your kid using their smart phone during school why send them to school with it? Are you monitoring their usage? Or are you expecting school to parent your child?
